Highlights from My Musical and Theatrical Journey
A glimpse into the stories, songs, and workshops that define my artistic life. From large festival stages to intimate storytelling sessions, here is a collection of moments that mean the most to me.
It was a profound honour to direct and perform with the wonderfully talented students of Srishti Special Academy for the 'Sunny Symphony' concert. This performance at the Jackfruit 2024 festival was a testament to the power of inclusive art, showing that every child's voice deserves to be heard on the main stage.
Sharing the stage with the respected Padma Shri Manjamma Jogati was a truly blessed moment. This performance at the 62nd Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava was a musical exploration of Karnataka's rich folk traditions, a project that involved months of dedicated research and collaboration with incredible artists.
I am inviting you to a Sugama Sangeetha workshop I am facilitating. These sessions are a welcoming space for anyone who loves Kannada poetry and music, regardless of your musical background. We will sing together, discuss the works of legendary composers, and share in the simple joy of music.
A moment of pure joy and laughter on stage during the 'HSV Namana' event. For me, art is always about this connection, creating a space where we can share stories, music, and a bit of ourselves. These are the unforgettable evenings that fuel my passion.
At home, I often find myself lost in the world of Bhavageethe. Here is a rendition of Gopalakrishna Adiga’s celebrated poem, 'Yaava Mohana'. These sessions are my personal exploration of the deep emotions and philosophies embedded in Kannada poetry.
I am humbled and grateful to have received the Karnataka Women Achievers' Award for Excellence in Music. This recognition is not just for me, but for all the poets, composers, and collaborators who have been a part of my artistic journey.
A glimpse into an interactive storytelling session for children. Using puppets, music, and a lot of imagination, we create a magical world where kids can explore stories and express themselves. This was part of a wonderfully chaotic and joyful birthday celebration.
About this collection
Whether I am performing at a large festival or facilitating a small workshop, my goal is always the same: to create a genuine connection. My work blends Kannada poetry, folk music, and theatre to build experiences that resonate, whether you are looking for a bespoke theatrical keynote for your organization or a playful, interactive storytelling session for children.
Bringing Art to Life
Every project I take on is a kalatmaka jawabdari (artistic responsibility). I do not believe in one-size-fits-all performances. When I work with a client, we spend time discussing the goals—whether it is weaving corporate leadership themes into a theatrical keynote or creating a sensory-friendly environment for children at a school.
My Approach
- Inclusive Storytelling: My sessions are designed for everyone. I collaborate with families and educators to ensure that my storytelling and music sessions are accessible and welcoming, particularly for children with special needs.
- Modern Meets Traditional: I love finding the pulse of ancient Kannada poetry and giving it a new life. By mixing Bhavageethe and folk traditions with modern musical compositions, I aim to make our rich cultural heritage relevant and exciting for today's audiences.
- Community-Led: I rarely work alone. My performances are a result of teamwork, involving talented musicians and percussionists who help create the soundscape. We arrive early, set up with care, and treat every event as a shared space for connection.
