Join me in exploring the intersection of music, poetry, and storytelling. From masterclasses on composition to panels on the role of art in our lives, these conversations are about connection and shared learning.

An announcement for a masterclass on music composition that I co-facilitated with the talented Bindhumalini. We shared our approaches to composing for different mediums like film, theatre, and live performance.

More details from our music composition masterclass. These sessions are designed for a wide range of artists, from emerging singers to experienced composers, who are interested in multidisciplinary projects.

I was invited to have a conversation about imagery and metaphor in poetry and song at the Museum of Art & Photography in Bengaluru. It was a pleasure to discuss the poems and songs that have shaped my artistic life with Dr. Pramila Lochan.

I was honoured to be invited by Toto Funds the Arts to do a rehearsed reading of Neel Chaudhuri's award winning play, 'Godspeed'. Bringing a script to life, even in a reading format, is a challenge I truly enjoy.

A clip from my appearance on the 'Gold Class with Mayuurra' podcast. It was a wonderful, in depth conversation about my journey in music, my experiences in theatre, and the artists who have inspired me.

In this podcast clip, I share my memories of the legendary composer C. Ashwath sir. People often thought he was short tempered, but he was just incredibly passionate about life, art, and everything in between.

A group photograph with the winners of the Deccan Herald Changemakers 2024 awards. It was an inspiring experience to be on the jury and learn about the incredible work these individuals are doing for society.

About this collection

When I host these sessions, I treat them like an 'adda'—a comfortable, open space where hierarchy disappears. Whether we are dissecting the nuances of Bhavageethe or discussing the evolution of film music, my goal is to create a setting where participants feel safe to share their thoughts, challenge ideas, and learn together, regardless of their prior musical training.

Art is never a solitary pursuit for me. It is born from collaboration and shared moments of 'charcha' (discussion), which is why these conversations—whether in the form of a panel, a masterclass, or an intimate reading—are so close to my heart. My approach is to demystify the creative process, turning complex topics like music composition or poetry interpretation into accessible dialogues.

Learning Together

My masterclasses, such as those co-facilitated with fellow artists like Bindhumalini, are designed for curious minds. We break down the approach to composing for multidisciplinary projects, whether it is for theatre, film, or a live stage. You do not need formal training to join these sessions; curiosity is the only prerequisite. We explore the emotional depth of Kannada poetry and the technical craft of song-writing in a non-judgmental environment.

Beyond the Performance

I believe in the kalatmaka jawabdari (artistic responsibility) that comes with being a public voice. This is why I participate in cultural panels, such as those at the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP), and serve on juries for initiatives like the Deccan Herald Changemakers. These platforms are not just about recognition; they are opportunities to highlight the power of community action and creative expression. My work also extends into the written word, including translating books for Bahuroopi publications, which allows me to engage with young readers and contemporary themes in literature.

What to Expect

Whether you are looking to host a talk on the nuances of storytelling, a workshop on songcraft, or a rehearsed reading of a play, my sessions are highly interactive. We keep the group sizes intimate to ensure that every participant feels seen and heard. If you are interested in a conversation about music, culture, or the arts for your school, college, or private gathering, let us discuss how we can structure a meaningful session together.

I am a storyteller, singer, and filmmaker, but above all, I am a collaborator. I believe art is most meaningful when it sparks a conversation, whether in an intimate workshop, on a public panel, or through the pages of a book we read together.
