Training should be serious, but you have to enjoy the process. We don't take ourselves too seriously all the time—here’s a look at the funny, human side of our academy and why we debunk 'movie-style' martial arts.

Mommy se panga nahi lene ka. A humorous take on self-defense against the ultimate weapon: a mother's chappal. Even my own mother joined in on the fun.

Expectation vs. Reality Part 2. This is my take on the fake "mcdojolife" gun defense techniques you see online. This is what would actually happen. Don't try this at home.

Expectation vs. Reality. Another example of why you shouldn't believe everything you see online. This is a parody of an unrealistic choke escape.

About The Lighter Side: Fun & Humor

People often ask me, 'Coach, can I really disarm a gun like in the movies?' The short answer is no. If you’re looking to learn self-defense, you need to stop watching action films and start looking at what actually works under pressure. Watching these stunts is fun, but training for your safety is a different ballgame. We keep things light at the academy, but when the mats are down, we focus on what really keeps you safe.

Self-defense isn't just about flashy kicks or complex throws; it's about separating fact from fantasy. You'll see a lot of 'McDojo' content online—flamboyant techniques and weapon disarms that look great in an action movie but fail the moment real aggression hits. My approach at Om BJJ & MMA Academy is built on dismantling these myths.

Whether it’s a funny skit about a mother’s 'chappal' attack or a breakdown of 'fake' gun defense, these videos are designed to teach you a critical lesson: if it looks too smooth to be true, it probably is. We prioritize functional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), solid Muay Thai striking, and wrestling fundamentals. These arts don't rely on being a hero; they rely on leverage, positioning, and knowing when to de-escalate.

We keep the mood light in the gym, but the techniques we practice are grounded in reality. Real martial arts training requires sweat, discipline, and ego-management. Come in for a trial class, see the difference between 'show-off' combat and actual conditioning, and let’s work on real skills that work when you need them most.
