Newborn Photography: Capturing Your Baby’s First Days
The first few days of a baby’s life pass in a blink. I specialise in gentle, safe newborn photography, creating timeless portraits during that sleepy 5 to 20-day magic window.
A dapper little gentleman. This peaceful, posed shot on a swing is a beautiful example of the artistic and creative portraits I love to create for newborns.
One month of sweetness. This little one is sleeping so peacefully next to his teddy bear, holding a sign to mark his first big milestone.
The famous 'froggy pose'. This video shows the care and expertise required to achieve this advanced newborn pose safely. It is always done as a composite of multiple images with hands supporting the baby at all times.
A calm and peaceful soul. This one-month-old melted our hearts with his sweet, sleepy expressions. It was pure joy to capture these quiet moments.
About The Newborn Stage: First Days of Wonder
If you are planning a newborn session, the sweet spot is strictly between 5 and 20 days old. This is when babies are naturally sleepy and easy to curl into those peaceful poses. I always keep our studio quiet and calm, prioritising safety above all—especially for advanced setups like the froggy pose, which is always done as a composite of multiple images with hands never leaving the baby.
The Art of the First Days
There is a fleeting, precious magic in a newborn’s first few days. Ye jo pal hai, ek din yaad ban jayenge (These moments will become memories one day). My goal is to capture those tiny details—the soft yawns, the curling toes, and the peaceful, sleepy expressions—before they change. My studio in Goregaon West, Mumbai, and Hinjawadi, Pune, is designed as a calm sanctuary where we move at your baby's pace, never rushing.
Why the 5–20 Day Window Matters
Newborns are most comfortable and deeply asleep during their first three weeks. This is the ideal time to create those classic, curled-up portraits. If your baby is slightly older, do not worry; we can still capture beautiful images, though the poses may vary to suit their alertness.
My Approach to Safety
Safety is non-negotiable. Whether it is using soft, hypoallergenic wraps or executing complex compositions, my priority is your baby’s comfort. If a baby feels unsettled, we pause. We provide dedicated buffer time for feeding, changing, and soothing within every session. You will never see me force a pose; I wait for the baby to guide us.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do parents need to be in the photos? I offer tiered sessions, ranging from baby-only portraits to full family photography. If you choose a package with family inclusion, we will capture those intimate, tender connections between parents and their new addition.
What should we bring? I provide all professional props, outfits, and wraps. You only need to bring yourself, your baby, and the essentials for feeding. We can discuss themes—like cultural celebrations or whimsical concepts—ahead of your visit to ensure everything is ready.
Neelam Vyas
Being a mother changed the way I see the world, and it taught me the patience needed to be a baby whisperer. I don't believe in forcing smiles; I wait for the little yawns and sleepy stretches to create real, soulful images. When you step into my studio, my only goal is to preserve the quiet magic of your baby's earliest days.
