Authentic Naga Food in Bangalore: A Taste of Home
I cook authentic Naga meals right here in my Koramangala kitchen, using ingredients sent straight from back home. If you are missing real Naga flavours or want to try something new, here is a look at what I have been cooking lately.
This is my special fish thali, packed and ready for you. It comes with steamed rice, fish cooked in a light gravy, a dry fish preparation, fresh salad, a vegetable side, and a sweet gulab jamun. A complete, delicious meal.
Here is my smoked pork with axone, a true Naga specialty. The pork is smoky and tender, cooked with fermented soybeans, tomatoes, and lots of fiery chillies until the flavor is deep and rich.
I love making this beef curry. It's cooked slowly with bamboo shoot and special Naga herbs from my garden until the meat is falling apart. The wooden bowl just makes it feel more like home.
This is my take on the traditional Pongsen style freshwater fish. Since I don't have a fireplace here, I steam it with herbs and spices until it's perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
Watch me cook this chicken curry with Aneshi, which is dried colocasia leaves. It gives the curry a unique, earthy taste that you won't find anywhere else. It's a classic Ao Naga dish.
This is Rosop, a healthy and hearty mixed vegetable stew. I cook different seasonal vegetables with bamboo shoot juice and a bit of dried fish for that authentic Naga taste.
I am always learning how to make my homemade Axone (fermented soya) even better. This is the secret to many of my dishes, giving them that special, pungent flavor that is so loved back home.
A simple and beautiful river fish lunch thali. On the plate, you have rice, boiled bamboo shoot, a simple vegetable stir fry, and a spicy chutney, all served with fresh leaves.
This is how I cook my pork with dried bamboo shoot. I let it simmer with dried red chillies and king chilli until the curry is bubbling and the whole kitchen smells delicious.
It makes me so happy to see customers enjoying my food. This is a video from a food lover in Bangalore who tried my Naga thali with pork, fish, and bitter gourd.
About Featured
My kitchen works a bit differently than a standard restaurant—everything I make is small-batch and pre-ordered to keep the flavours fresh. When you order from this menu, you are getting the same traditional Naga dishes I cook for my own family, featuring authentic ingredients like hand-pounded Axone and smoked meats that are difficult to find elsewhere in Bangalore.
How I Cook
I do not have a fixed daily menu. Because I run this out of my home kitchen in Koramangala, I cook in small batches based on what is fresh and available. I source my key ingredients—like Axone (fermented soybean), Raja Mircha (King Chilli), and Aneshi (dried yam leaves)—directly from Nagaland to ensure you get the real taste.
My Specialties
- Smoked Pork: This is a favourite. I cook it with Axone and bamboo shoot to get that deep, smoky, and pungent flavour that defines Naga cuisine.
- Beef & Fish: I often prepare beef curries with bamboo shoot or freshwater fish in the Pongsen style. Without an open fireplace, I have adapted my methods to get that same intense, authentic flavour.
- Vegetarian Options: My Rosop (mixed vegetable stew) is a staple, made with seasonal greens and bamboo shoot juice for a sour, clean taste.
Ordering Process
Since I do this on my own, I usually announce my menu a few times a week. I take pre-orders to ensure nothing goes to waste and that every meal is as fresh as possible. You can pick up your order from my kitchen in Koramangala 2nd Block, or I can arrange delivery via Rapido or Porter if you are in other parts of Bangalore.
Naturally Naga
I started Naturally Naga because I missed the taste of home, and I love sharing those flavours with you here in Bangalore. Everything I cook—from the smoked pork to the fresh vegetable stews—is made with ingredients I source directly from Nagaland, right in my own home kitchen.
