About this collection
The main focus for an underwater theme is the ceiling effect. Instead of just putting a banner on the wall, I use layers of blue and purple balloons to simulate water above your guests. This requires a specific setup to keep the ceiling balloons secure and dense enough to look like the ocean, while keeping the floor clear for movement.
Creating an ocean environment requires more than just blue colors. I use a mix of matte and chrome balloons to create depth in the water effect.
My Approach to Ocean Decor
- The Ceiling: I use a standard organic balloon technique to fill the ceiling, varying balloon sizes from 5 to 12 inches to avoid a flat, uniform look. This makes the 'water' look fluid.
- Wall Details: I prefer foam board cutouts of seahorses, starfish, and coral over printed flex banners because they provide 3D texture.
- Color Palette: We stick to specific teal, indigo, and pastel purple tones. I always bring extra balloons in these colors to fill any gaps.
Planning for Your Space
If you have a home venue in Bangalore, we usually measure your ceiling height first. If the ceiling is too high, we shift the focus to a concentrated balloon arch or a backdrop with floor clusters to ensure the 'underwater' feel is still immersive. I also include LED par lights to highlight the balloon texture, which is essential for evening events. We can finalize the specific character cutouts—like mermaids or sea turtles—during our planning call to make sure the decor matches the birthday child's preferences.
My Balloons My Party
I'm the person behind My Balloons My Party in Electronic City. I handle the balloon styling and prop setups myself. If you want an underwater party, I know how to layer the balloons and place the props so it actually looks like an ocean.
