About this collection

Working on the wheel is hands-on, so expect to get a bit messy, but that is part of the fun. I provide aprons, but I always recommend wearing clothes you do not mind getting clay on. You will spend about 90 to 120 minutes with me, focusing on centering your clay and shaping your own vessels from scratch.

Learning the potter's wheel is about slowing down and connecting with the clay. Even if you have never touched clay before, I am here to guide you through every step.

The Experience

When you come to my rooftop studio in Whitefield, we start with the basics. You will get your own station with an electric potter's wheel. I will help you with the intensive part of centering the clay so you can focus on the rewarding feeling of pulling up the walls to form your own bowl or tumbler.

What You Will Make

Depending on how the clay behaves and your own creative flow, you will typically work on 2 to 3 balls of clay. We focus on creating functional pieces like tumblers, kulhads, or bowls. At the end of the session, you choose your best one or two pieces to keep.

The Process After Your Session

Your work is not finished when you leave. I handle the trimming and turning of the bases once the clay is leather-hard. Each piece then goes through a double firing process—a bisque fire at 900°C, followed by glazing and a high-temperature glaze fire at 1200°C. This ensures your pottery is food-safe and waterproof. Your fired pieces will be ready for collection at the studio in approximately 4 weeks.
