About this collection
When you come for a hand-building session, please keep in mind that it takes a little patience to get your piece home. Since we hand-fire everything in our studio kiln to make your creations food-safe and durable, your pottery will be ready for pickup about 3 to 5 weeks after the workshop. It is truly worth the wait to get that final, glossy, professional finish!
What to Expect
Our hand-building sessions are all about slowing down. You do not need any prior experience to join us in our open-air, rooftop studio in Whitefield. We focus on three main techniques: slab building, coiling, and pinching.
Whether you are planning a corporate team-building event for your colleagues, a birthday surprise for a friend, or just want a solo afternoon to de-stress, this is the place to do it. You will work with stoneware or earthenware clay, and we provide all the stamps, lace, and cookie cutters you need to add your personal texture to your work.
The Process
- The Session (2 Hours): We walk you through the clay basics. You will shape your piece from scratch.
- The Wait: Once you finish, we take over. Your pieces need time to dry slowly to prevent cracking.
- The Firing: We handle the sanding and the two-stage firing process. First is the Bisque firing at 900°C, followed by glazing and a final high-temperature firing at 1200°C to make your items waterproof and food-safe.
Practical Details
- Wear comfy clothes: Even with our cotton aprons, clay can be a bit messy. You might get a few splashes on your shoes or pants.
- Location: We are based on a rooftop in Whitefield. It is naturally ventilated and airy, so it is perfect for relaxing even if it is not AC-cooled.
- Take-Home: You create it, we fire it, and you come back to collect your finished, professional-looking pottery in a few weeks.
