About The Artistic Process
When I work on a commission, I do not just draw—I layer. Whether it's charcoal for a deep, monochrome portrait or wax-based pencils for skin tones, I spend hours building up the depth, light, and shadow that make the final piece look real. You are not just getting a drawing; you are getting a glimpse into my process, which I always document so you can see how the details come together ✍️.
My process is all about patience. I do not use shortcuts. For my hyper-realistic portraits, I start with a light graphite outline, mapping out the structure of the face. Then, I move to charcoal or polychromos pencils, applying pressure layer by layer to capture everything from hair texture to the glint in an eye. If you look at my process videos, you will see me work in real-time. It takes time, but that is the only way to get the realism I aim for.
I also bring this same focus to my cultural work—my Yakshagana and Daivaradhane paintings. Here, the technique shifts slightly, focusing more on vibrant acrylics and expressive, bold lines that honor the traditional art of my home, Tulunad. 🙏
What to expect when you order:
- Initial Phase: We discuss the reference photo and the mood you want. I prefer clear, high-resolution photos for the best results.
- Execution: I work on the sketch, and for larger pieces, I provide updates. I personally oversee every stage of the shading and texturing.
- Finishing: For charcoal, I use a matte fixative to prevent smudging. For acrylics, I apply a gloss varnish to keep the colors sharp and dust-resistant.
- Delivery: I provide a high-res digital scan for every portrait, and I make sure it is packed safely—rolled in a PVC tube for paper or bubble-wrapped for canvas.
If you are looking for a piece that captures a specific feeling or a person's exact expression, that is exactly what I focus on. Let's create something real together ✌️.
