Custom Portrait Paintings and Sketches
Every face carries a unique story. Whether it is a tribute to a loved one, a classic oil portrait, or a modern mixed-media piece, I bring those memories to life on canvas through a collaborative process.
A close-up of a finished oil portrait, focusing on the profile and the interplay of light and shadow. This classic approach to portraiture aims to capture a quiet, contemplative mood.
Another angle of the oil portrait, showing the richness of the colors against a dark background. Oil paints allow for a depth and luminosity that is perfect for capturing skin tones.
The beginning stages of an oil portrait, known as the underpainting. This monochromatic layer helps establish the light and shadow before any color is added, forming the foundation of the final piece.
A tribute to Mother's Day, featuring both a colorful painting and a delicate pencil sketch of a mother and child. It shows how the same loving theme can be expressed in different artistic mediums.
A heartfelt painting celebrating the special bond of Mother's Day. The Indianized Madonna and child is a theme I love to explore, blending universal emotion with cultural details.
A quick watercolor sketch of an artist at her easel. This plein air style of painting is about capturing a fleeting moment and the feeling of being immersed in the creative process.
From a sculpture of a mother and child to various sketches, this collection explores the theme of motherhood. It's a journey I've cherished, both as a mother and a grandmother.
A portrait done in a modern, almost anime-inspired style. It's fun to experiment with different aesthetics to create a piece that feels fresh and contemporary.
A collection of captured moments in pen and pencil. It includes a lively cafe scene and a tender portrait of a mother and child, showing how simple sketches can tell rich stories.
A mixed-media portrait of a "pretty woman" on brown paper. The collage element in the earring adds a touch of intricate detail to the expressive, painterly style of the face.
About Portraits & People
Before I pick up a brush, we will chat about the mood and the specific vibe you want to capture. For every commission, I start with a rough layout sketch so we are both on the same page about the composition before I add any colour or detail. This ensures the final piece feels exactly how you imagined it in your heart.
My Approach to Portraiture
I believe a portrait is more than just a likeness. It is a captured moment. Over the last 12 years, I have worked with all kinds of subjects, from traditional oil-on-canvas profiles that capture light and shadow to light-hearted pencil sketches that freeze a fleeting expression.
How We Work Together
Art is a conversation. When you reach out, we start by discussing what you are looking for. Do you want a timeless oil painting with rich textures, or something quick and expressive like a charcoal or watercolor sketch? I love working from photographs, but I am also open to live sittings if that suits your comfort.
Options for Your Portrait
- Classic Oil Portraits: These use depth and luminosity to create a piece that feels heritage-worthy. Perfect for gifts or preserving family memories.
- Contemporary Sketches: These are great for capturing daily life or quick, emotive moments. They have a raw, honest energy that I personally love.
- Mixed Media & Collage: This is where I experiment with layers, paper, and texture. If you want something that breaks away from a traditional canvas, this is the style for you.
The Process
- Consultation: We discuss your vision, the subject, and the setting. We look at references and decide on the medium.
- Layout Sketch: I create an initial draft to confirm the composition, angle, and expressions.
- Painting: Once approved, I start the final work. For oils, this involves building layers to get that perfect depth.
- Delivery: Your artwork is framed or packed securely and sent to you, ready to be displayed in your home or gifted to someone special.
Everything I create is about connection. If you have a memory that deserves to be on your wall, let's talk about how we can make that happen.
