Contemporary Indian Art & Mythology Paintings
I love taking our traditional stories and giving them a fresh, modern perspective. Whether it is the timeless elegance of Bani Thani or the intricate patterns of Ganjifa, I aim to bring a spark of Indian heritage into your home.
A depiction of Shakuntala from Kalidasa's famous play, showing her deep connection with nature. I used a simple black and white palette with a touch of color to highlight her grace in this Indian mythological art piece.
A close-up of my contemporary Bani Thani painting, focusing on the expressive eyes and traditional adornments. The loose, colorful brushwork in the background adds a modern, almost abstract feel to this classic Rajasthani art subject.
My take on the "Indian Mona Lisa," the iconic Bani Thani. I used semi-abstract techniques to create a sense of movement and emotion, blending historical art with a contemporary acrylic painting style.
A pen and ink sketch capturing the cosmic dance of Shiva. For me, this powerful movement represents the eternal cycle of creation and destruction, a core concept in Hindu mythology.
A simple pen and ink drawing of Buddha, created to mark World Meditation Day. The focus is on the serene expression and the symbolic curls of hair, reflecting the peace found in meditation.
A patriotic painting celebrating India, with the tricolor flag as a backdrop for symbols of freedom and progress. The bird flying from the cage represents our journey as a nation.
A creative exploration of balance, combining the concepts of Yin-Yang and Mandala art. The detailed ink work contrasts the industrial and natural worlds, showing how they coexist.
A simple, heartfelt painting of a woman in prayer, created during an Indian New Year celebration. The warm colors and folded hands convey a sense of devotion and peace.
A pair of peacock paintings done on old book pages. This mixed-media approach combines the beauty of our national bird with the texture of the written word, creating a unique piece of Indian-themed art.
This large canvas, painted for the Viksit Bharat event, shows my vision of a progressive India. It merges the power of nature with symbols of renewable energy, all within the colors of our national flag.
About Contemporary Indian Art & Mythology
When I start a commission, I don't just jump straight into colors. I like to send a quick, rough layout sketch first so we are on the same page about the composition and mood. It is my way of making sure the final piece captures exactly what you had in mind, whether it is a meditative Buddha or a vibrant folk-inspired tray.
My work is a dialogue between the past and the present. You will find classic subjects like the graceful Bani Thani reinterpreted with loose, contemporary brushwork, or Ganjifa folk art adapted for everyday items like coasters. I use mixed media, gold leaf, and texture pastes on canvas to bring depth to these stories.
For larger statement pieces, we have the space to really play with detail. Whether you want a pen-and-ink Shiva for your study or a colorful, modern interpretation of a mythological scene for your living room, we can customize the size, medium, and color palette. My smaller paper and canvas works come ready to hang with synthetic frames, while my gallery-wrapped canvases have painted edges so they look great without frames too.
If you have a specific story or a poem in mind, let's talk. I enjoy the process of turning a vague idea into a tangible piece of art. We can discuss your color preferences and the space you want to fill, ensuring the final piece feels like it belongs on your wall.
