Bharatanatyam Lineage and Guru-Shishya Tradition in Bengaluru
My dance is rooted in the lineage of my gurus, Smt. Indira Kadambi and the late Guru B. Bhanumati. Every class I conduct carries the discipline and technical precision passed down through this sacred parampara.
Learning from my guru, Smt. Indira Kadambi, is a continuous process. Here we are in class, where her guidance helps refine every movement. The guru shishya parampara is the heart of our tradition.
A special moment dancing with my guru and mother in law, Smt. Indira Kadambi. We are practicing adavus, the foundational steps of Bharatanatyam. Her presence and expertise are a constant source of inspiration.
A tribute to my two guiding stars, my gurus Smt. Indira Kadambi and the late Guru B. Bhanumati. I am forever grateful for the knowledge and values they have instilled in me as both a dancer and a person.

About My Gurus and Lineage
In my HSR Layout studio, the lineage isn't just a background story—it dictates how we train. When you learn here, you are not just memorizing choreography; you are adopting a specific methodology that emphasizes structural purity and anatomically safe movement, ensuring that every Adavu is as technically precise as it is expressive.
The bond between student and teacher is the foundation of Indian classical dance. My training under Acharya Smt. Indira Kadambi and the late Guru B. Bhanumati forms the bedrock of my practice. This isn't just about learning steps; it is about inheriting a perspective.
The Ambalam Arts Pedagogy
My classes follow the structural rigor of the Ambalam Arts methodology. We prioritize:
- Foundational Strength: Every session begins with Adavu basics to ensure the body is conditioned and posture is correct. This is where the medical knowledge I use as a pathologist informs my teaching, preventing strain and focusing on alignment.
- Technical Precision: Whether we are working on Alarippu or a complex Varnam, the focus is on the clarity of footwork and the integrity of the hand mudras.
- Abhinaya & Expression: Learning the art of expression is a significant part of our advanced curriculum. We study the Kalanidhi Narayanan style to understand how to convey deep emotion within the dance.
Why This Matters for You
Learning Bharatanatyam is a long-term commitment to discipline. My students, whether beginners or advanced practitioners, benefit from a small, focused environment. With batch sizes limited to 8-12, you receive the individual correction necessary to refine your form. If you are balancing a career or education with your passion for dance, you will find an environment here that respects both your time and your dedication.
