Traditional Indian Yoga and Meditation Online
Yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life. My sessions focus on traditional Indian practices to help you move from restlessness to restfulness, one breath at a time.
Here I am in the Himalayas, a place of immense peace. I find that meditating in nature, by the water, helps connect me to the stillness within. In my classes, I guide you to find this same sense of inner quiet, no matter where you are.
This video is a short guide to two powerful pranayama techniques. First, we practice Nadi Shuddhi, or alternate nostril breathing, to balance the mind and body, which can be very helpful for sleep. Then we move to Bhramari, the humming bee breath, to release tension from the head and quiet the internal noise.
This is Vrikshasana, the Tree Pose, practiced at sunrise. This asana helps us find balance and stability, rooting down into the earth just like a tree. It reminds us that even with the world moving around us, we can find a steady center.
In this guided meditation, we focus on the Mooladhara or Root Chakra using the bija mantra 'Lam'. This practice is wonderful for grounding your energy, especially if you feel stressed or restless. I explain how to chant not for others, but to feel the vibration inside your own body, connecting you to the earth element.
I often use the analogy of water in my teachings. A calm lake perfectly reflects the sky, just as a calm mind can reflect our true Self. This short video is a reminder to be formless and adaptable, to find stillness amidst the ripples of life.
This diagram illustrates the five movements of Prana, or life force energy, within our body. Understanding how Prana governs everything from breath reception to digestion helps us use pranayama techniques more effectively. In my sessions, we learn to work with this energy to improve circulation, digestion, and mental clarity.
Here I am settled for a mantra meditation. This ancient practice uses sound to help quiet the constant chatter of the mind and achieve a state of deep rest. It is a simple yet profound tool for reducing stress and finding inner peace, and I guide students on how to incorporate it into their daily lives.
About Featured
True yoga doesn't require you to be flexible or have a quiet environment; it requires you to be honest with yourself. In my online sessions, we don't focus on high-intensity exercise or showing off. We use traditional asanas, breathwork (pranayama), and meditation to manage stress and improve sleep. Whether you are a total beginner or looking to deepen your practice, these classes are designed to help you build a consistent, grounding routine from the comfort of your home.
My Approach to Yoga
I believe yoga is something to be lived, not just performed. My teaching style is slow and deliberate, drawing on traditional Indian lineages. We prioritize the internal feeling of a practice over achieving a perfect pose. If you are struggling with anxiety, high blood pressure, or a mind that feels like it has too much 'noise,' this is where we start.
What You Will Practice
- Foundational Asanas: We work on Surya Namaskar and basic postures like Vrikshasana. We focus on alignment and comfort, keeping the pace accessible for beginners and seniors.
- Therapeutic Pranayama: I guide you through Nadi Shuddhi and Bhramari. These are not just exercises; they are tools to regulate your life energy (Prana) and calm the nervous system.
- Guided Meditation: We conclude with meditation techniques, sometimes utilizing Bija mantras like 'Lam' to help you connect with your Mooladhara (Root Chakra). The goal is not to stop thoughts, but to learn to watch them and remain unaffected.
Online Learning
All my sessions are held live via Zoom, broadcast from Whitefield. This format allows me to provide personal attention even in a group setting. You do not need special equipment—just a quiet corner, a mat, and the willingness to show up for yourself. My mission is to share the knowledge I have gathered from Rishikesh to the wider world, helping you find a silent, peaceful corner within your own daily life.
