Mastering Arm Balances and Inversions Online
Arm balances and inversions are not just for the naturally flexible. Learn the mechanics and core strength to build these poses safely from scratch.
This video shows how a student achieved Kakasana (Crow Pose) in a single class. It’s not about magic, it’s about breaking down the mechanics step by step, which is the foundation of my teaching.
A student learns Kakasana from scratch in my class. I guide her through the feeling of shifting weight forward and engaging the core, leading to a beautiful, stable balance she never thought possible.
The road to an advanced asana like Pincha Mayurasana is built on perseverance and the right approach. This student overcame fear and self-doubt by trusting my guidance and taking no shortcuts.
An intermediate student struggles with the pike press into a headstand. I provide the specific drills needed to build the required core compression and shoulder strength, all without hands-on adjustments.
Learning to fall safely is just as important as learning the pose itself. Here I demonstrate how to bail out of a Pincha Mayurasana, which is a crucial skill for building confidence in your inversion practice.
About this collection
Forget buying blocks, straps, or expensive equipment; in my classes, we use wall space and solid body mechanics to build foundation. I keep my live sessions strictly capped so I can watch every movement through your camera and offer specific, verbal micro-corrections in real-time. Whether you are learning your first Crow Pose or refining your Pincha Mayurasana, you will know exactly which muscle to engage and how to shift your weight.
The Foundation of Inversions
Many students approach inversions like the Pincha Mayurasana or Headstand with fear because they treat them as 'final poses' to be achieved instantly. That is how injuries happen. My approach is different: we focus on the drills, not the destination.
We build your practice through:
- Core Compression: You cannot balance if you do not know how to engage your core, not just your abs. I teach you how to create tension in the right places.
- Shoulder Stability: Inversions are about shoulder alignment. If your alignment is off, no amount of force will help you balance. I guide you on how to depress and stabilize your shoulders for a stable base.
- Falling Safely: If you are afraid of falling, you will never balance. I teach you how to bail out of inversions safely so you can practice with confidence, not panic.
Why No Props?
I avoid reliance on props like bricks and straps because they create a false sense of security. If you learn to hold a pose because a prop is holding you up, you are not learning to control your own body. We use the floor, the wall, and your own body mechanics. This builds genuine strength that stays with you long after the class ends.
The Online Reality
This is not a pre-recorded tutorial where you guess if you are doing it right. My online group classes require video-on participation. When I say 'Kakasana' (Crow Pose), I am looking at your shins, your palms, and your shoulder tension. You will receive verbal corrections specific to your body type and limitations. We take the time to unlearn the 'internet' myths and focus on what your body actually needs to progress.
