The Creative Journey: Behind My Art Process

Art is how I process my dreams and feelings. Peek behind the scenes to see how I layer my emotions onto canvas using oils, fluid acrylics, and a bit of meditative magic.

Behind every piece of art, there is a feeling and a story. This is me working on a surrealist painting, channeling my emotions directly onto the canvas. It’s a therapeutic process of translating dreams into visual art.

I find oil paints to be the best medium for certain pieces. They give me so much freedom to smudge, erase, and repaint until it feels right. And the best part is that a tiny, peanut-sized amount of paint goes a long way, which is very *kifayati*!

I'm completely in love with fluid acrylics. This video captures my playful exploration with these mesmerizing colors, watching them create flawless gradients and blend in a harmonious dance. It’s like watching a love story unfold on the canvas.

Sometimes I paint on my balcony, with the city view in the background. For me, pain is inevitable, and art is how I process it. This session was a reminder that challenges are a natural part of life, and creativity is a way to find beauty in them.

The art I create is a direct reflection of how I am feeling or what I am dreaming. Here I am using a tablet for reference while working on a large canvas, making sure the digital sketch translates perfectly into a physical painting.

My creative process isn't always planned. Sometimes it involves late-night sessions, exploring new mediums and ideas as they come to me. This is where I experiment and allow for spontaneous discovery in my art.

Applying the final varnish is a crucial step that I never skip for my original paintings. This non-porous gloss layer ensures the artwork is protected from dust and that the colors remain true and vibrant for a lifetime.

About The Creative Journey: From Idea to Art

Every original piece I create gets a professional gloss varnish finish. This isn't just for the shine, it is a non-porous shield that keeps dust out and protects those vibrant colors from fading over the years. When you bring home a canvas, you are getting a piece that is built to stay fresh, whether it is a small desk-size study or a three-foot statement piece for your living room.

From Idea to Canvas

My creative process is rarely a straight line. It starts with a feeling or a memory—sometimes it is the comfort of a paper boat, other times it is the complex layering of a surrealist dream. I prefer oil paints for pieces that need texture and depth because they allow me to smudge, erase, and repaint until the composition feels right. They are also incredibly kifayati, as a tiny amount of paint goes a long way.

Playing with Mediums

I love to experiment. While oils are my steady companion, I also adore working with fluid acrylics. The way those colors blend and dance on the canvas is pure therapy. You will often find me painting on my balcony, using the city view as a backdrop to ground my work in reality. My process involves sketching out ideas on a tablet first, then translating those digital thoughts into physical brushstrokes on stretched cotton or linen canvas.

Quality That Lasts

Whether you opt for an archival-grade print or an original, hand-painted artwork, the focus is always on longevity. My larger statement pieces, ranging up to three feet, use double-primed heavy grain canvas to support deep paint layering. Every piece comes with a signed certificate of authenticity and, for the larger works, I provide a virtual consultation to help you assess the perfect fit for your wall lighting and space.

I am Shruti. For me, painting is meditation—it is how I process everything, from the quiet days to the chaotic ones. I pour those feelings directly onto the canvas, keeping every piece raw, personal, and real.
