The Artist's Journey: Behind My Watercolor Process
You know, life behind the canvas is a mix of quiet moments, messy paints, and a whole lot of heart. This is a look into my creative world and where the magic actually happens.
This is me in my element, painting in the park. Moments like these, surrounded by nature, are when I feel most creative and at peace.
A candid shot of me smiling while painting in the park. Creating art outdoors, especially in a beautiful place like Cubbon Park, is one of my favorite things to do.
A short process video showing how I add depth and detail to the leaf of a watercolor hibiscus flower. It's these final touches that really bring a painting to life.
A glimpse of my painting setup during a trip to Gokarna. My sketchbook, watercolor palette, and a cup of tea are all I need to create on the go.
A look at my creative corner at home, decorated for Diwali. My space is filled with art, plants, and fairy lights. It's my personal sanctuary where I bring my ideas to life.
A selfie from a day out. My personal style and my art are often intertwined, both full of color and expression.
A moment of reflection. My journey as an artist has been full of self-doubt, but I'm learning to embrace it and keep creating.
About this collection
You know, people often ask about my process, but it is not about fancy gear. It is just me, my White Nights watercolors, and finding a moment of stillness, whether that is under a tree at Cubbon Park or tucked away in my corner at home. I do not force the flow; I show up, embrace the imperfection, and let the brushes move with my mood.
You know, seeing the final painting is only half the story. My creative space, or 'Pavna's abode' as I call it, is where the chaos of daily life turns into color. I work primarily with 300gsm cold-press watercolor paper because it handles the layers of gouache and ink without warping, which is vital for the intricate floral details I love. Whether I am painting outdoors in Bengaluru with the breeze hitting my face or spending two days straight deep-cleaning and decorating my home for Diwali, it is all part of my artistic rhythm.
Being a kannadathi at heart, my roots often influence the vibrant colors I pick for my murals and portraits. If you look at the murals, the tiny crochet hearts, or the watercolor prints, they all carry the same intention: to bring joy to a personal space. It is hard sometimes, dealing with self-doubt or the logistics of managing commissions, but then I finish a piece and it feels like the universe has my back. I am not just painting walls or paper; I am trying to capture a feeling. If you are looking for art that has a bit of soul, this is where it starts. Okay I also love you ❣️🧿💋
Pavna
Hi cutie! I am Pavna, and I believe art should be a direct reflection of who we are. When I am not teaching yoga, I am usually lost in a mix of watercolors, crochet, or mural work in my little home studio.
