About Bernard and Friends: Handcrafted Wooden Lamps & Tables
Every base in this collection is hand-turned by local woodworkers, meaning no two silhouettes are exactly the same. We finish these pieces with natural oil rather than synthetic varnish, so you get the genuine texture of solid teak or white ash under your fingertips—a living surface that gains character the longer it stays in your home.
The 'Bernard and Friends' collection was born out of a desire to create objects that hold a sense of stillness. We see architecture and design as a form of spatial storytelling, and these pieces are the smaller chapters of that story. Whether it is a side table for your reading corner or a lamp that softens the light in your living room, these items are designed to blend into their context rather than compete for attention.
We source solid Teak and White Ash for these pieces, avoiding veneers entirely. The woodturning process allows us to play with volume and weight, creating forms that feel grounded and intentional. Because we use natural oil and wax finishes, the wood breathes. It reflects the nuances of the grain and changes subtly with age, much like the buildings we design. This is what we mean by 'slow architecture' applied to the objects you live with every day.
