About Elegant Table & Floor Lamps
When selecting a lamp, look beyond the appearance to the base construction. My pieces, whether they are heavy-weighted crystal or solid wood, are designed with felt-lined bottoms to protect your furniture surfaces. If you are choosing for a bedside, consider the lamp height, as my 24 to 32-inch designs ensure the light source is perfectly positioned for reading without creating direct glare.
Material and Craft
I believe lighting should feel substantial. You will notice my lamps are not lightweight imitations. I use weighted faceted K9 crystal for the bases, which allows for better refraction and stability. For the metalwork, I use alloys with antique brass or gold electroplating, ensuring the finish maintains its richness over time. The wooden bases are crafted from solid wood, providing a grounded, natural feel that pairs well with both formal leather sofas and rustic study desks.
Choosing the Right Light
Lighting is about layering. A single overhead light often feels cold. I recommend using table lamps on consoles to define entryways or floor lamps beside armchairs to create a dedicated reading zone.
- For the Bedside: Stick to the 24 to 32-inch range. This keeps the light above your shoulder level when seated, preventing harsh light from hitting your eyes.
- For the Study or Console: Look for lamps with adjustable features or more directional light, such as my nautical-style or brass-arm pieces.
- Shade Selection: Most of my lamps come with premium pleated or tapered drum fabric shades in neutral tones. This material softens the bulb’s output, creating a warm, inviting glow rather than a clinical, bright glare.
