Who says learning has to stay indoors? We encourage our little ones to step outside and experience the magic of outdoor play, where they can run, explore, and learn in nature's classroom.

About Fun, Fitness & Outdoor Play

While most preschools keep play limited to a playground slide, we treat our outdoor space as a serious learning lab. We specifically design our sessions, such as our barefoot sensory pathway or guided Kho Kho matches, to build physical coordination, balance, and the social confidence kids only gain when they are running, stretching, and playing together in a group.

Outdoor play at Little Red Hen is not about burning energy, but about reaching developmental milestones. We move beyond standard equipment to incorporate structured sports like Kabaddi and Kho Kho. These traditional Indian games are excellent for teaching toddlers about spatial awareness, quick reflexes, and basic teamwork. By introducing these early, we help children develop gross motor skills in a way that feels natural and safe.

Our sensory pathway is another cornerstone of our outdoor approach. We invite children to explore seven distinct textures barefoot, which stimulates the nervous system and improves balance and proprioception. It is a simple but effective way to get kids grounded and focused.

For quieter moments, we bring the outdoors inside during circle time with yoga. We find that introducing simple stretches helps children learn emotional regulation early on. When a child learns to breathe through a pose, they are also learning to manage the big emotions that come with growing up.

Whether your child is a budding athlete or just loves to explore, our Kothanur and Thanisandra campuses are built to be safe havens for this kind of active discovery. We keep groups small, so every child gets the encouragement they need to step out, try a new sport, and find their rhythm.

We started Little Red Hen because we wanted a place where kids feel at home, not just students ticking boxes. Our team here is deeply committed to the idea that play is the most important work a child can do. We are here to support your child’s physical and emotional growth through every leap, stretch, and chase.
