Outdoor & Resort Lighting Design for Hospitality Venues

When I design for resorts or outdoor hospitality venues, I focus on transforming the night into a visual narrative. The goal is to draw the eye to key architectural features or landscape elements rather than just flooding the space with high-intensity light.

My design strategy relies on a few core principles:

• Zoning with Light: I define pathways, water bodies, and seating areas with distinct light pools. This creates a natural flow for guests and adds depth to the garden or resort grounds.
• Safety and Durability: Outdoor spaces require technical precision. I specify fixtures that can handle weather extremes, and I strictly use low-voltage electrical grids for areas near pools or pathways to eliminate any risk of shock.
• Architectural Highlighting: I use uplighters and wall grazers to emphasize textures, columns, or canopy structures. This turns a static building facade or tree into a visual beacon at night.

For the Mirage Goa project, we treated the cabanas as floating lanterns. By concealing the light source and reflecting it off the canopy structure, we achieved a serene atmosphere that feels organic to the resort setting.
