Flamenco Workshops and Cultural Lecture Demonstrations
Dive into the soul of Spain right here in India. Whether you are a beginner looking for rhythm or an institution seeking a cultural journey, we break down Flamenco with heart, history, and real technique.
A glimpse into a Flamenco lecture demonstration and workshop with students. We cover the basics, have some fun with rhythm, and I share a small performance to bring the art form to life for them.
A short clip of a 'Bulerias' rhythm demonstration during a workshop. This shows the kind of energetic and authentic footwork I teach to students, even in an introductory session.
A lighthearted moment that happens often. This video playfully addresses the common confusion between "Flamenco" and "Flamingo" dancing, a fun way I connect with new students.
About Workshops & Educational Programs
When you join a session, expect more than just steps. We focus on the basics of Zapateado and Compas, but more importantly, I teach you how to feel the music. You will need hard-soled shoes and a willingness to sweat, because learning Flamenco is a physical conversation with the floor.
Flamenco is a discipline that demands consistency. If you sign up for my Beginner Intensive Course, we cover 8 to 10 hours of training. We start with the 12-beat Compas, the rhythm cycle, and move into Zapateado footwork. I focus heavily on posture and Braceo, or arm movements, because Flamenco is about the whole body, not just the feet.
For schools and colleges, I conduct lecture-demonstrations that last 60 to 90 minutes. These are not just dance shows. We discuss the history of the Roma people, the migration from Rajasthan to Andalusia, and why Spanish Flamenco and Indian Kathak share so many rhythmic roots. It is history, music, and movement combined.
I cap my workshop batches at 15 to 20 students. This is a deliberate choice. I need to correct your posture, check your rhythm, and hear your footwork against the wooden flooring. If the venue has carpet or concrete, I bring my own specialized wooden dance boards to ensure the acoustics are right. You are not here to simply move. You are here to learn the Duende, the soul of the art. Come prepared to work hard, as riyaz is not an option.
Kunal Om
I have spent three decades in this studio, treating it like a temple. My workshops are not about quick fixes, but about understanding the energy that drives this art. Come ready to sweat and learn, because this is real Flamenco.
