Learning Flamenco: My Mentors and Inspirations
Every artist's path is carved by the masters who came before. These photos capture the moments I spent learning from, and paying respects to, the maestros who shaped my journey.
A moment of gratitude with Maestro Eduardo Guerrero after his exceptional and emotional performance. Viva Flamenco!
With the future of Flamenco, Juan 'El Moreno', and his father, the living legend Maestro Farruquito. Watching them perform together is a magical experience, a true display of 'Flamenco Puro'.
It was an honor to meet one of my favorite musicians, the legendary percussionist B.C. Manjunath. I was blessed to witness his powerful live performance in Mumbai.
In conversation with the true legend, Maestro Akram Khan. It was an enlightening and life-changing experience to discuss art and performance with him, a moment of deep introspection.

Though I am a Flamenco dancer, I have deep respect for Kathak. Here I am at the Kalashram of Padma Vibhushan Birju Maharaj ji in Delhi to seek blessings and pay my respects to his incredible legacy.

A tribute to my late guru, Maestro Manolete (Manuel Santiago Maya). He was a rockstar, a legend, and the purest of the pure. The heavens now have Flamenco. May his soul rest in peace.

About My Gurus & Inspirations
My mentors, especially the maestros in Granada, taught me that Flamenco is 20 percent steps and 80 percent 'compás', or rhythm. When you join my workshops, we don't just memorize routines. We spend our sessions breaking down that 12-beat cycle so you can eventually improvise and jam with live musicians, just like they do in a traditional Spanish tablao.
Flamenco is not just a dance form. It is a dialogue between the soul and the rhythm. My training in Spain, specifically in the traditional neighborhoods of Granada and Madrid, taught me that you cannot fake 'duende'. You have to earn it through consistent 'riyaz'.
When I look at the legends I have had the privilege to meet—from the late Maestro Manolete to the powerful Farruquito and the rhythmic brilliance of B.C. Manjunath—I am reminded that every artist is a student. My workshops are built on this exact philosophy. Whether we are practicing Zapateado footwork or learning the subtle hand movements of Braceo, we are connecting with a deep history.
I believe in the 'Spaindia' philosophy. It is why I work so hard to bridge the gap between Spanish Flamenco and Indian dance forms like Kathak. When you take my beginner intensive course, you are not just learning a foreign style. You are learning a language of expression that finds its roots in the same nomadic gypsy history that links Rajasthan to Andalusia. If you are ready to put in the work and get your feet tapping, my studio doors are open.
