Celebrating Culture and Community Through Play
At Kinfolk, we turn every festival into a learning adventure. From Brazilian Carnivals to Halloween sensory play, our community celebrations bring global traditions to life for our little folks.
We brought the energy of Brazil to our campus with a vibrant Samba dance session. Parents and children danced together in the sunshine, creating a wonderful memory of our Brazilian Carnival celebration.
Mask making was a highlight of our Brazilian Carnival day. The children loved decorating their own masks, which they proudly wore while they danced and played, learning about another culture through hands-on fun.
Even foosball got a carnival twist. Events like these are all about shared experiences and creating a sense of community and fun for our little folks and their families.
Our spooky sensory bin was a huge hit during our Halloween celebration. Children scooped, poured, and searched for spiders, ghosts, and pumpkins, engaging their senses in a fun, festive, and not-too-scary way.
Dressed up and ready for some spooky fun. This little one is exploring the textures and objects in our Halloween-themed sensory bin, a perfect activity for tactile learning and imaginative play.
A quick look at the fun and games from our Halloween party. From costumes to spooky games and crafts, it was a day filled with laughter and excitement for everyone.
About this collection
These celebrations are not just parties; they are intentional, hands-on learning experiences. When we host a Brazilian Carnival, it is not just about dancing; it is about mask-making to refine fine motor skills and using storytelling to build cultural awareness. We build our community by involving parents in these moments, ensuring that learning remains a shared journey between home and school.
We believe children learn best when they are fully immersed in their environment. By marking global festivals, we introduce our little folks to diversity, empathy, and different ways of living long before they hit a textbook. It turns the world into a vast, reachable classroom.
Halloween at Kinfolk
Our Halloween setup is a perfect example of sensory-rich learning. We use 'spooky' bins filled with colored rice and water beads to engage tactile senses, alongside broom-crafting activities that build hand-eye coordination. It transforms a popular holiday into a structured activity that improves focus and sensory processing.
Cultural Immersion
Events like our Brazilian Carnival taught us about rhythm, patterns, and movement. Through Samba sessions and mask decorating, children explored new cultures while refining their motor skills. This approach is central to our Montessori framework—every activity has a purpose.
Why Community Matters
These events bridge the gap between families and our 1.5-acre Hoodi campus. When families participate, children feel a deeper sense of belonging. It is a vital part of our holistic approach—teaching them that they are part of a larger community that cares, plays, and grows together.
Kinfolk Montessori
I built Kinfolk because I wanted a space that felt like a second home, not a busy maze. I love watching children get their hands muddy during nature walks and seeing their eyes light up during story time. It is a community where kids and parents alike truly belong.
