About Behind the Scenes: Our Practice Sessions
We follow a traditional Baithak seating arrangement during our practice sessions, which creates a focused, immersive environment. This setup allows our instructors to sit alongside you and provide real-time feedback on your posture, hand-weight distribution, and rhythmic precision during every session.
At Khalsa Music Academy, we believe that true mastery comes from the discipline of daily Riyaaz. Whether you are learning the nuances of a complex Teentaal composition on the Tabla or finding your melody on the Harmonium, our practice sessions are designed to move you from basic exercises to confident performance. We operate in small groups of four to eight students, a deliberate choice that ensures you receive direct, personalized attention from the instructor while still benefiting from the collaborative energy of peer learning.
Our curriculum for these sessions is deeply rooted in the fundamentals of Indian classical music. We focus heavily on Raag and Taal, ensuring that you understand not just how to play, but why the notes and beats interact the way they do. For those focusing on Gurbani Sangeet, we provide specialized guidance on the authentic singing and playing styles required for Shabad Kirtan.
We welcome students of all ages and levels, offering flexible scheduling for our in-person classes in Delhi. Beyond the technical drills, these sessions are about community. You will find yourself practicing alongside others, which helps build the listening skills and rhythmic synchronization necessary for ensemble playing. We encourage our students to treat these hours as a dedicated space for devotion and growth, carrying forward the musical legacy that has been central to our tradition for generations.
