Authentic Yoga Education and Practice in Mumbai
Since 1924, Kaivalyadhama has approached yoga as a rigorous discipline rather than a fleeting trend. We focus on stability, breath, and awareness to ensure your practice is safe, grounded, and scientifically sound.

Hear from Neelam Jain, a student in my PG Diploma in Yoga Education. She shares her experience learning Ashtanga Yoga, understanding Patanjali Yoga Sutras, and the importance of guiding practitioners based on their individual capacity.
Since 1924, I have approached yoga as a science to be studied, long before it became a global trend. This commitment to research and evidence-based practice ensures the teachings remain authentic, safe, and deeply effective.

About Featured
Our educational path is designed for those who seek to understand yoga beyond the surface. Whether you are beginning with the 200-hour Certificate Course in Yoga (CCY) or pursuing the M.A. in Yogashastra, our on-campus programmes at Marine Drive are structured to align with Ministry of AYUSH standards and YCB accreditation. Every instructor on our team teaches with anatomical precision, ensuring that the ancient practice of asana and pranayama is applied with the safety that only a century of research can provide.
A Century of Research-Led Practice
Founded in 1924 by Swami Kuvalayananda, Kaivalyadhama was built on a single, unconventional premise: that yoga is not just a tradition to be followed, but a science to be measured, studied, and refined. We have spent the last 100 years applying this methodology to ensure that every student who walks through our doors receives instruction that is consistent, authentic, and responsible.
Our Educational Pathway
We believe that a serious practice requires a structured path. Our Mumbai center offers a non-residential environment where you can engage deeply with the curriculum without the distractions of a studio atmosphere.
- Certificate Course in Yoga (CCY): A 200-hour foundation aligned with Level 2 of the Yoga Certification Board (YCB). This is the starting point for anyone looking to build a career as a Yoga Wellness Instructor.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Education (PGDYEd): A more rigorous 1-year programme that prepares you to become a Yoga Teacher and Evaluator. It includes specialized modules on therapeutic applications and research methodology.
- M.A. in Yogashastra: Designed for those seeking mastery. This two-year weekend programme mixes ancient Sanskrit texts with modern clinical research and dissertation work.
Why Choose Our Approach
When you study with us, you are not learning 'fitness yoga.' You are learning the mechanics of how breath impacts the nervous system, how asana affects musculoskeletal alignment, and how the mind responds to sustained attention. Our faculty does not just demonstrate poses; they explain the 'why' behind them.
By prioritizing stability and awareness, we help you build a practice that lasts a lifetime, regardless of your initial flexibility level. This is where tradition meets institutional accountability.
