Creative Explorations and Advanced Art Workshops
Sometimes the basics are just the starting line. Here, we push boundaries with architectural rendering, acrylics, and 3D experimentation to help you find your unique artistic voice.
I'm so proud of this architectural design work by one of my senior students. He used markers and pens to create these incredibly detailed and professional looking illustrations of modern homes.
An expressive and dramatic seascape created with acrylic paints. While my main focus is watercolor, we sometimes explore other mediums like acrylics to learn different painting techniques.
Art can be made from anything. This is a miniature sculpture with detailed carvings, made from a simple piece of chalk. It’s a fun exercise in patience and precision.
About Creative Explorations
When you step into these advanced sessions, we move past getting it right to getting it detailed. For architectural drawings, expect to spend time mastering vanishing points and perspective grids, while our acrylic sessions are all about heavy layering and bold color mixing. It requires patience, but you will leave with a piece you are actually proud to frame.
Our creative explorations are designed for students who want to move beyond simple sketches. If you are joining our Intensive Advanced Batch, be prepared to dive deep into technical skill-building rather than just observational drawing.
What We Explore
- Architectural Rendering: Learn to translate 3D spaces onto 2D paper. We break down the complex geometry of buildings into simple perspective lines and vanishing points, using professional-grade markers for that crisp, clean finish.
- Acrylic Painting: Unlike watercolor, acrylics allow for forgiveness. We practice heavy-body techniques, layering techniques to build texture, and blending colors directly on the canvas to create depth.
- 3D Experimentation: Art is not just flat paper. We occasionally experiment with carving and sculpting materials like chalk, which teaches you about form, volume, and the importance of light hitting a surface.
These sessions are less about following a rigid syllabus and more about your project goals. Whether you want to polish your portfolio or just challenge your creative limits, I am there to critique your strokes and help you refine your technique in real-time. Since we limit batches to small groups, you get the focused guidance you need to tackle these more complex, time-intensive artworks.
