About Poomsae: The Art of Taekwondo Forms
You might think Poomsae is just about simple patterns, but it is actually the discipline that separates a casual student from a master. When you step onto our 25mm mats, you are not just memorizing moves. You are learning to synchronize your breathing with every stance and strike to create total body control. This is 75 minutes of intense focus that builds the balance and explosive power you need for any other sport you play.
Poomsae is the foundation of everything we do at Karnataka Taekwondo Academy. While sparring gets the adrenaline pumping, these forms are where you develop the 'intent' behind every movement. We teach both traditional and freestyle Poomsae, ensuring you master the rhythm, timing, and precision required to execute high-level techniques.
Our philosophy is simple: dimag aur dil is hisab se saksham hai ki tu ek lakh khade kar de marna manjoor hai ghutna nahin hai (my heart and mind are so strong, I would rather die than kneel before a hundred thousand people). We bring this intensity to every class. Whether you are a five-year-old taking your first steps or our oldest student at 67, these forms are for everyone.
We provide 12 to 13 sessions every month at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium. Because we focus on building champions, your training will include a mix of technique work and high-impact conditioning. Expect to hear 'Push up maadbeku!' (you have to do pushups) as part of your drills. We use agility ladders, stair running, and floor sprints to ensure that by the time you reach your Poomsae sequence, your body has the stamina to support every stance. If you are looking for a place in Bengaluru that treats martial arts as a path to lifelong strength rather than just a quick workout, Team KTA is where you belong.
