It’s not just about the final image. It’s about the hours spent tracking, the patience, and the ethics of being in the forest. Here is a glimpse into how I work in the wild.

Where does my passion take me? To the forests, wetlands, and streams, camera in hand, searching for the next story to tell. This is a look at my life as a wildlife photographer.

A glimpse into my life as a wildlife photographer, rescuer, and educator. From handling snakes to waiting for the perfect bird shot, this is my wild life.

The joy of being in nature is something I can't fully convey with words. This reel captures the smiles, goosebumps, and energy of searching for wildlife in the forest.

It's out there. A short, meditative reel about the peace and beauty of being in nature, from walking through streams to finding a quiet moment in the forest.

Documenting an endemic Ceropegia vincifolia flower, which traps insects for pollination. Moments like these, learning about nature's amazing mechanisms, are what make this work so rewarding.

A photo of me holding an Indian Rock Python, from a feature on my work as a photographer and rescuer. It's a privilege to handle these magnificent creatures.

A friend and fellow rescuer holding a monitor lizard. My journey is filled with collaborations with people who share my passion for wildlife.

Behind the scenes of photographing flamingos in Navi Mumbai. Using a 400,000 Rupee setup is a big investment, but capturing these birds in the golden hour light makes it all worth it.

Sometimes, the best sightings happen right by the road. This reel shows the behind-the-scenes of finding and photographing a beautiful pair of Spotted Owlets.

A behind-the-scenes look at photographing the Yellow-footed Green Pigeon, the state bird of Maharashtra. It takes patience and a bit of luck!

About Behind the Lens

Photography for me isn’t just about the gear. It’s about the hours spent waiting in the rain and the ethics of tracking. Whether I am using specialized macro lighting for a spider in the Western Ghats or waiting for flamingos in Navi Mumbai, I focus on minimal disturbance. If you’re coming on a session with me, we aren't just shooting, we are reading the forest for alarm calls and movement patterns.

People often ask me about the expensive lenses and camera bodies I carry, but the most important tool is patience. You can have a professional setup, but if you don't know how to read the ecosystem, you will miss the real stories.

My process is rooted in my years as a wildlife rescuer. When I’m out in Aarey, Thane, or the Northern Western Ghats, I’m not just looking for a subject. I’m observing the environment, tracking movement, and understanding the animal's comfort zone. That is what I call fieldcraft.

Whether I’m documenting a rare Ceropegia flower or tracking a snake, the goal is to capture behavior without interfering. If an animal seems stressed, we back off. That is the ethical line I never cross.

If you want to move beyond 'auto mode' and start telling real conservation stories, I offer fieldcraft workshops. We won’t just shoot, we will learn about tracking, setting up for different light conditions like the golden hour, and how to use macro diffusers to get professional results without harming the subject. It is about understanding nature, not just documenting it.

I’m Karan. Wildlife rescue has been my life since I was eight, and photography became my way to share these stories during the lockdown. I’m just a guy who spends his time tracking snakes and birds, trying to show people that the wild is closer than they think. If you’re into the forest as much as I am, let's head out together.
