Discipline and Respect in Kabaddi Training
A championship mindset starts with integrity. Learn how we build the character of a true athlete on and off the mat.
I was deeply saddened by the mistreatment of women Kabaddi players at a university championship. In this video, I speak out against such incidents and call for respect and safety for all athletes, whether male or female. The dignity of a player is the dignity of the nation.
About The Spirit of Kabaddi: Discipline & Respect
In this game, the way you carry yourself is as important as your raiding speed. At my academy, we teach discipline not just as a rule, but as a foundation. Whether you are training for professional leagues or learning the basics, how you treat your opponent and respect the mat defines whether you become a true champion or just another player.
Kabaddi is a sport that tests your character every single second. Many come to me asking for shortcuts to raids or tactical blocks, but I tell them the same thing: discipline comes first. If you do not respect the game, the game will not respect you.
My training philosophy stems from my own journey, from the mud fields of my village to the podium at the Asian Games. It was not just physical strength that got me that gold medal in 1998; it was the mental discipline to stay focused under pressure. When I see incidents where players or organizers forget the dignity of the sport, it is a reminder of why our values matter.
In my academy, we do not just drill ankle holds or the Dubki. We drill attitude. Whether you are a junior learning your first 'Cant' or a senior preparing for national trials, you will learn to value the mat. We train on both mud and mat to ensure you are comfortable in any condition. But above all, you will learn to play with integrity. I believe a real athlete is defined by their respect for their opponent. If you are ready to put in the hard work and learn with humility, you will find your place here.
