My Kabaddi Journey: From Village Fields to Asian Games Gold
People see the medals, but the real story is in the mud, the sweat, and the years of discipline. Here is how I went from playing barefoot in my village to standing on the Asian Games podium, and why I now dedicate my days to training the next generation.
This video captures key milestones of my career. From representing Karnataka for the first time as a junior to being felicitated by leaders after becoming an Arjuna Awardee, every moment was a step towards a bigger dream.
A throwback to my playing days. This action shot shows me executing a tackle on the mud court. It was always a challenge for defenders to stop my raids.
A memory I will always cherish. Here is the 1998 Asian Games gold medal-winning team being felicitated by the legendary Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. I was the vice-captain of this proud team.
A proud moment, receiving the Arjuna Award for my performance in Kabaddi during 2000-2001 from the then President of India, Shri K. R. Narayanan.
Holding the Arjuna Award, a symbol of years of hard work and dedication to Kabaddi. This award represents my contribution to India's sporting legacy and inspires me to guide new players.
A personal moment with a piece of history. This is a framed newspaper article from the Bangkok '98 Asian Games, celebrating our team's gold medal victory. These memories fuel my passion for coaching.
About My Journey: From Village Fields to Asian Games Gold
My coaching isn't about standing on the sidelines; it is about getting into the mud with you. When you train with me, you aren't just learning how to raid or tackle. You are learning how to build the same mental strength that carried me through my Asian Games gold campaign. I correct your footwork in real-time, teaching you the small technical adjustments, like proper hand support during a jump, that separate a good player from a champion.
Kabaddi is a legacy, not just a game. My journey began in a small village near Yeshwantpur, where the only thing I had was raw junoon (passion) and a pair of sturdy legs. I didn't have professional mats or expensive shoes; I had mud, grit, and the support of my team.
Winning the Arjuna Award in 2000 and the Asian Games gold in 1998 taught me one thing: success isn't given, it is earned through sangharsh (struggle).
Today, my academy focuses on that same foundation. Whether you are a beginner stepping onto a mat for the first time or a pro looking to refine your 'Dubki' or chain-blocking skills, you will be trained under my direct supervision. We don't believe in shortcuts. We believe in high-intensity conditioning, tactical awareness, and, most importantly, discipline.
If you are serious about Kabaddi, my doors are open. We train on both mud and mat to ensure you are ready for any arena. Come ready to work hard, and I will show you how to find the champion within yourself.
