My Air Force Journey and Coaching Philosophy

byJitendra RoySAI Southern Centre, BengaluruView full gallery

From the Indian Air Force tarmac to the volleyball court, I carry the same discipline and precision into every practice session.

A glimpse into my life as a soldier in the Indian Air Force. Walking on the tarmac next to the aircraft, I learned the importance of focus and being ready for any mission.

This video of a parajumper perfectly captures the spirit of the Air Force: courage, precision, and trusting your training. It’s about having the wings to fly and the confidence to take the leap.

About this collection

My time in the Air Force taught me that precision is the difference between winning and losing. I do not just teach volleyball, I teach athletes how to hold their focus when the pressure is at its peak. Whether we are at SAI Bangalore or training in Trivandrum, I expect my players to show up with the same intensity I brought to my service.

The transition from a soldier to a coach was natural because both roles require the same core traits: discipline, mental toughness, and an unwavering commitment to the team. In the Indian Air Force, I learned that success is not accidental. It is the result of repetition, preparation, and knowing exactly how to handle fatigue.

I apply this same philosophy to volleyball coaching. My training sessions are not just about hitting the ball over the net. We focus on tactical awareness, biomechanical efficiency, and maintaining calm under trial pressure.

I work with athletes who are ready to put in the work. Whether you are aiming for U-20 selection or looking to refine your technique, my sessions use data and video analysis to highlight your specific gaps. You will not find shortcuts here. You will find a structured environment where we break down movements, analyze rotations, and build the physical conditioning required for high-level play.

My coaching at facilities like SAI Southern Centre is grounded in reality. I have sat on selection panels and seen players fail because they were unprepared for the mental strain of trials. My goal is to make sure you are not just a player who has the skills, but an athlete who has the mindset to succeed when the game is on the line.

I am an ex-Air Force soldier who found his true calling on the volleyball court. My training sessions are demanding because I believe sports require the same level of commitment as service.
