Editorial and Celebrity Portraits
I believe every face tells a story. My editorial work focuses on raw, cinematic portraiture that captures the true character of my subjects, blending my background in filmmaking with high-end still photography.
A moody, backlit portrait of actor Mahesh Babu for Hello! Magazine. The strong silhouette and minimalist all-black styling create a sense of modern, understated power.
Capturing Mahesh Babu in a relaxed, natural setting for Hello! Magazine. The soft, ambient light and casual linen suit offer a different, more personal side to the superstar.
A full-length portrait of Mrs. Nita Ambani, showcasing her magnificent pink and silver lehenga against a shimmering, textured background. The image captures the grandeur and elegance of the sangeet celebration.
A throwback shot of Shahrukh Khan, capturing a moment of pure joy and energy. The dynamic water splash and genuine smile make for a timeless and lively editorial portrait.
A classic black and white beach portrait of Hrithik Roshan. The strong contrast and natural elements of the sea and sky highlight a sculpted physique, creating an iconic and powerful image.
A black and white profile of Sonam Kapoor, composed with a minimalist aesthetic. Her elegant posture and the clean lines of the frame create a sense of timeless, sculptural beauty.
A series of portraits of Saif Ali Khan for Hello! Magazine. Each frame captures a different aspect of his personality, from intense and thoughtful to relaxed and regal.
About this collection
When I approach a portrait, I look for the silence between the words. My method relies on stripping away the noise, often using a singular light source to sculpt the mood and highlight an honest expression. It is not about the elaborate setting; it is about creating a quiet space where the subject forgets the camera is there.
Whether working for publications like GQ and Hello! or capturing personal series, my process remains constant. We use the Fujifilm GFX 100MP system, which allows for incredible detail, but that detail is useless without a story. Every shoot is a genuine collaboration. My team includes stylists, makeup artists, and a technical crew who help manage the rhythm of the set. By focusing on light sculpting and shadow, we create images that feel timeless. I often encourage subjects to embrace their natural posture, which is why you see such varied moods in my work, from the energy of a water splash with Shah Rukh Khan to the regal stillness of Nita Ambani. We treat every session as a film set, paying attention to the texture of the skin, the fall of the fabric, and the underlying emotion. If you are looking for an editorial style that prioritizes character over heavy editing, let us talk about your concept.
Jatin Kampani
I have spent years learning that less is more. Photography is about building a connection with the subject to find the emotion that matters, whether it is a quiet moment on set or a high-energy campaign.
