Handmade Pottery Collection
A glimpse into my quiet world where clay meets nature. Each piece here is hand-shaped or wheel-thrown in my Uttarahalli studio, crafted with textures and organic forms that bring a bit of peace into your home.
I find so much peace in carving, especially when bringing nature into my work. Here, I am carefully cutting away clay from a wheel-thrown vase to create a design inspired by the beautiful Monstera leaf.
Have you ever wanted to learn the art of pottery? I offer structured courses for all beginners, covering both hand-building and wheel throwing. Join me in the studio to create something beautiful with your own hands.
This was a true labor of love. Watch as I test the backflow on this hand-sculpted dragon incense burner. The smoke flows from its mouth, creating a magical, waterfall-like effect.
I designed these grip tumblers to fit perfectly in your hand. The beautiful, drippy glaze is a mix of deep purples and blues, making each stoneware cup a unique piece of functional art.
I don't often take custom orders, but this one was too special to pass up. I was asked to create a ramen bowl with a hidden "Will you marry me?" message inside. It is a joy to be a small part of such a beautiful love story.
It is amazing to see creativity blossom at any age. This is a glimpse into the journey of my youngest potter, just 8 years old, as he learns to shape and glaze his very own creations over 15 days.
There is something so comforting about a handmade tea set. This wheel-thrown stoneware teapot and matching cups feature a beautiful blue glaze that reminds me of a calm sea. It is perfect for sharing a quiet moment.
About this collection
Every piece you see here is crafted with high-fire stoneware clay, meaning it is not just for display—it is fully food-safe, microwave-safe, and durable enough for your morning chai. When you choose a piece, you are holding something that has spent weeks drying, firing, and glazing in my Uttarahalli studio, rather than something mass-produced.
Making pottery is a slow, grounding rhythm. When I sit at the wheel or start hand-building, I am not just creating an object; I am capturing a texture—like the intricate veins of a Monstera leaf—or a moment of stillness.
Why Stoneware?
I work almost exclusively with stoneware clay because it offers a tactile, raw beauty that feels right in your hands. It is double-fired at 1220 degrees Celsius, which vitrifies the clay. This is a technical way of saying it becomes incredibly strong and chip-resistant. Whether it is a mug, a pasta bowl, or a delicate vase, these pieces are designed to handle the realities of daily life in a busy Bengaluru home.
Nature in Every Curve
My inspiration comes from the world around me. You will often see beach-inspired glazes, organic leaf carvings, or sgraffito patterns that tell a story. If you find a piece you love, know that the variations in glaze and form are exactly what make it unique. No two pieces are ever identical, which is the magic of handmade ceramics.
How to Bring These Home
Most of the pieces in this gallery are ready for their new homes. If you are looking for a specific set or a custom gift—like the proposal bowls I have made in the past—I am happy to discuss it. Custom projects typically require about 2-3 weeks to complete the full firing cycle to ensure the quality holds up.
Ihalo Studio
Hi, I'm Mihika. My studio in Uttarahalli is my quiet escape where I let clay, nature, and textures guide my hands. I’m happiest when I’m getting messy and helping someone else find that same calm I feel when I create.
