I’m Namrata. I believe pottery is a practice of patience and presence. Here is a look at my recent work, from wood-fired vessels to daily functional ceramics, all made right here in Indiranagar.

This large, sculptural vase is part of my '100 Explorations' project. Each piece is a conversation between my hands and the clay, embracing textures and forms that feel alive and born from the earth.

The potter's wheel is a space for focus and reflection. It's where I find my rhythm, shaping not just clay, but also my own thoughts, letting each rotation guide me toward a new form.

This is a set of functional art from my Kurinuki collection, a Japanese technique of carving from a solid block of clay. The pieces are designed for daily rituals, connecting you to the raw, sculptural nature of the material.

A quiet moment with a mug from the Kolam collection. These pieces are inspired by the beautiful, ephemeral rice flour drawings from my heritage, bringing a sense of tradition and warmth to your daily coffee or chai.

Mastering the teapot is a journey of patience and precision. Here, I am shaping the body and spout, focusing on the small details that ensure a perfect, drip-free pour for your tea rituals.

My studio often fills with pieces for custom commissions. This batch of tumblers and bowls, with their soft blue strokes, was created for a client, showing how I can bring a specific vision to life in quantity.

There is a quiet magic in watching my students find their voice in clay. This is a collection of their work, each piece a testament to their curiosity, persistence, and growing skill.

This vase shows the wild, unpredictable beauty of wood firing. The flame and ash paint the surface, creating textures and colors that can never be replicated, making each piece truly one of a kind.

About Featured

When you hold these pieces, you will notice they are not factory-perfect. My work often uses foraged clay from places like Coorg or Bali, and firing methods—like wood or soda firing—that leave unpredictable, beautiful flame marks. Each mug or vase is designed to be lived with, but please expect slight variations in texture, color, and finish, as these are the hallmarks of a truly handmade process.

My practice at A Ware Studio is rooted in the idea that ceramics should carry a memory of the earth. I do not aim for mass-produced consistency. Instead, I explore techniques like Kurinuki, where I carve forms from solid blocks of clay, and use atmospheric firing to let smoke and ash paint the surface.

Handmade Ceramics & Functional Art

Whether it is a morning coffee set or a large-scale order for a cafe, I approach functional ware with the same rigour as my sculptural pieces. I use high-fire stoneware and porcelain, ensuring pieces are food-safe, durable, and dishwasher-friendly. You will find that my glazes—from deep mustard to subtle blues—are tested for resilience, standing up to the rigours of daily use while maintaining their organic appeal.

Custom Projects & Commissions

I enjoy the collaborative process. If you have a specific vision for your home or business, I work closely with you to adjust dimensions, glazes, and firing techniques to match your aesthetic. I have experience scaling up to 300+ pieces for commercial spaces, maintaining that handmade soul even in larger batches.

A Community of Makers

Beyond the kiln, teaching remains a core part of my identity. From one-day workshops to immersive 8-month courses, my studio in Indiranagar is a space for those who want to move past the surface and truly understand the wheel, hand-building, and the quiet science behind a drip-free teapot.
