Soulful Sufi & Qawwali Nights by Harsh
Music is my suroor, my bliss. Whether it is a quiet evening of ghazals or an energetic Sufi rock set, I bring the legacy of my Ustad to your stage, connecting hearts through every melody.
A magical moment on stage, connecting with the audience through the power of Sufi music. Performing in this traditional sherwani, I feel the energy of the legends with my full band behind me.
Lost in the melody of "Laagi Tumse Man Ki Lagan." This performance at Revel Haus shows the deep emotion I pour into every Sufi song, dressed in a simple white kurta to match the purity of the music.
An acoustic duo performance at Guru Cafe in Dubai, featuring just my voice, guitar, and the soulful beats of the tabla. This setup is perfect for creating a warm, intimate vibe in smaller venues.
A classic black and white clip from a performance at OVO Dubai, paying homage to my inspirations. This unplugged set shows how powerful music can be even in its simplest form, with just a voice and a guitar.
Bringing the fire of qawwali to an outdoor celebration. With the full band on stage, we turned this beautiful evening into an energetic mehfil that had everyone captivated.
This is Sufi rock. On stage at The MYX nightclub, with pyrotechnics and a full band, I performed "Saanson Ki Maala." It shows how we can blend ancient poetry with a modern, high-energy sound.
Another take on the timeless "Saanson Ki Maala." This clip showcases my full band with bass and drums, creating a powerful rock fusion sound on an LED-lit stage.
About this collection
For these Sufi nights, the sound setup is as vital as the vocals. When I perform at intimate gatherings, I focus on the clarity of the harmonium and tabla, ensuring the nuances of the qawwali reach every corner of the room, while my full band setups in larger venues are tuned for that deep, resonant Sufi-rock bass that fills the space without overpowering the poetry.
Creating a mehfil—a true gathering of souls—is about understanding the room. Whether you are hosting an intimate baithak (sit-down gathering) or a grand corporate event, the essence of Sufi music lies in the storytelling.
My Approach to Sufi & Qawwali
I grew up listening to the greats, and my aim is to carry forward the raw emotion of those qawwalis. For smaller, private gatherings in Delhi or Dubai, I prefer an unplugged setup. It is just me, my guitar, and perhaps a tabla player. This allows for conversation, requests, and that rare, quiet connection where every word of the kalaam is heard.
For larger celebrations, I bring the full band. We shift into a Sufi-rock fusion, using bass, drums, and electric guitar to add power to the classics. We do not just play songs; we build a narrative that transitions from slow, spiritual Ghazals to high-energy Punjabi folk.
Customizing Your Night
- Intimate Sessions: Perfect for drawing rooms or terraces. We keep the audio setup minimal, focusing on raw vocals.
- Sufi-Rock Fusion: Ideal for nightclubs or farmhouses. We use a professional PA system, mixer, and full instrumentation to make sure the energy stays high.
If you have a specific song or a memory attached to a melody, tell me. I love taking requests mid-performance because, at the end of the day, it is your story we are singing. Let us sit together and plan the playlist.
