Join me in Amboseli to capture the giants of the savannah. From finding the perfect angle of Mount Kilimanjaro to tracking legendary tuskers, these expeditions are designed to help you tell the jungle's stories through your lens.

A classic Amboseli scene: a huge herd of elephants running against the backdrop of a cloud-kissed Mount Kilimanjaro. When something spooked the herd, I was ready to capture the chaos and motion.

A super tusker elephant grazes in Amboseli with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. My African photo safaris are designed to help you capture these breathtaking, paradise-like frames.

The elephant king, the mighty Craig. Seeing this gentle giant, who feels like a mammoth from the Ice Age, at close quarters is a humbling experience.

Craig in his kingdom. We tracked him down and spent an incredible amount of time photographing him, a highlight for everyone on the tour.

A wide-angle portrait of Craig, showcasing his immense size and magnificent tusks.

Another powerful shot of the legendary tusker Craig. His calm temperament allows for incredible close-up photography opportunities.

A monochrome version of the iconic shot of Craig with Mount Kilimanjaro. Black and white photography strips away distractions, emphasizing texture, light, and the raw emotion of the moment.

A magnificent bull elephant in Amboseli, captured in black and white. It was on this trip that I fell in love with monochrome for its power in telling a different kind of story.

A majestic elephant captured by a guest on my Kenya tour. There's a calming, peaceful energy about these giants that always amazes me.

The super tusker 'TJ' walking through the summer grasslands of Amboseli. This image was made by a guest who fulfilled her dream of photographing these gentle giants.

About African Expeditions

Africa is vast, and the sheer scale can be overwhelming for your camera settings. In our expeditions, we focus on the practical details, such as anticipating movement in the field, choosing the right lens for wide-angle landscape shots, and knowing exactly where to position the vehicle to frame elephants against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Wildlife photography in Africa is not about waiting for a subject to appear. It is about reading the landscape. When we are in Amboseli, we are not just driving. We are tracking the movement of specific herds and individuals like the legendary Craig. I teach you how to manage the harsh midday light and use it to your advantage for dramatic portraits.

We often shift to black and white, especially with elephants, to highlight the texture of their skin and the sheer raw emotion of the encounter. Whether you are using a wide-angle lens for environmental portraits or a telephoto for intimate details, I will be right there with you, helping you adjust your settings on the fly. These are not sightseeing tours. We go where the light is right, and we stay until the story is captured.

Our expeditions are kept to a maximum of four guests per vehicle. This is a non-negotiable choice. It ensures you have the physical space to maneuver your gear and the opportunity for me to provide personalized mentorship during every session. We focus on the story behind the animal, ensuring you return not just with images, but with a deeper understanding of the wild.

Hi, I am Harsha, but most know me as Catman. I have spent 15 years living the stories of the wild, and I believe the best way to capture them is to become part of the environment, not just an observer. I will guide you through the plains of Africa to help you find your unique voice behind the lens.
