Textiles Reimagined: Handcrafted Fabric & Thread Jewellery
I love bringing the stories of Kalamkari and Ikat to life by turning these beautiful, GI-tagged fabrics into wearable art. Each piece here is a unique, slow-made story stitched together for you.
The beauty of Kalamkari cloth is that it needs no extra embellishment. For this pendant, I simply cut and glued a piece of the beautiful hand-painted fabric, letting the traditional art speak for itself.
This pendant features a beautiful piece of Ikat fabric, known for its distinctive blurred patterns. I've paired it with a simple cord adorned with small metal coins to complement its tribal aesthetic.
For all the Kalamkari lovers, here are some simple and elegant fabric pendants. These lightweight "neck-tags" are an easy way to add a touch of traditional Telugu art to your everyday look.
Another example of a Kalamkari fabric pendant, this time featuring the face of a royal figure with a magnificent mustache. The yellow and blue colors are characteristic of this art form.
A simple yet elegant pendant made with a piece of floral Kalamkari fabric. The neutral background and earthy colors make it a versatile accessory for any kurta or top.

About this collection
These pieces aren't just fabric glued to a base. I hand-pick GI-tagged Kalamkari and Ikat textiles, carefully treating them to resist dust while preserving the texture. Every pendant is finished with a protective varnish and small details like ghungroo bells, making them durable enough for daily wear yet unique enough for a festive occasion.
From Tradition to Wearable Art
I believe that every piece of jewellery tells a story. In this collection, I work with fabrics that carry the heritage of Indian craftsmanship. Whether it is the bold, narrative-driven art of Kalamkari or the intricate, geometric patterns of Ikat and Kutch embroidery, I treat each textile piece as a canvas.
How I Create Them
- The Base: I often use upcycled materials like wooden combs or lightweight MDF discs. This allows me to combine sustainability with style, giving new life to everyday objects.
- The Treatment: Since fabric can be delicate, I apply a specialized varnish to the painted sections of the wood. This protects the colours and makes the pendants resistant to dust, ensuring your jewellery stays vibrant even after repeated wear.
- The Finishing Touch: I avoid heavy metal chains, preferring hand-braided cotton cords that are gentle on your skin. You will often find little ghungroo bells or beads attached, adding a subtle, musical touch to your movement.
Styling Your Fabric Jewellery
These pieces are incredibly versatile. A simple Kalamkari 'neck-tag' pendant works beautifully with a plain cotton kurta for a day at work. For a more festive look, you can pair my more elaborate, fabric-mixed wooden necklaces with a silk saree. Since I make these by hand, if you see a colour palette or a fabric pattern you love, I am always happy to customise a piece specifically for your outfit.
