Tanjore Art: Wearable Royalty
These pendants bring the royal aesthetic of traditional Tanjore paintings to life. I use authentic 24k gold foil, hand-sculpted gesso, and a protective resin finish to create statement pieces that are light enough for daily wear.
A stunning Tanjore art pendant featuring a peacock motif, crafted with authentic gold foil on a deep red base. The piece is finished with a protective resin coating, ensuring its lasting beauty and shine.
A closer look at my Tanjore gold pendants. You can see the raised gesso work and the shimmer of real gold foil. I combine this ancient art with modern techniques to create art you can wear.
Here are two of my most requested Tanjore motifs. On the left is the Gandaberunda, the two-headed mythical bird from Mysore's royal emblem, and on the right is a classic peacock, both crafted with real gold foil.
This elegant black and gold pendant showcases intricate floral gesso work, highlighted with real Tanjore gold foil and a single gemstone. It is paired with brushed gold and black beads for a sophisticated look.
A special creation featuring a peacock design with real gold leaf, accented with agates and brushed gold beads. The rich maroon background makes the goldwork pop, creating a truly luxurious feel.
This is the first step in creating my golden jewellery. I carefully apply real gold foil over the embossed gesso design. It's a delicate process that brings a unique, fascinating texture to each piece.
After applying the gold leaf, the real artistry begins. I use fine brushes to enhance the design with vibrant colors and intricate outlines, giving the pendant a beautiful three-dimensional effect.
About this collection
I seal every pendant with high-grade resin. It is not just for the shine; it protects that delicate 24k gold foil, so you can wear these statement pieces daily without worrying about the finish dulling or scratching over time.
People often ask if real gold foil is too fragile for jewellery. Because I use a traditional gesso base to create relief work, the gold foil is not just sitting on the surface; it is an integral part of the design. Once I seal it with multiple layers of resin, the pendant becomes water-resistant and incredibly durable.
This collection focuses on the royal aesthetic. You will find classic motifs like the mythical Gandaberunda—the two-headed bird and state emblem of Karnataka—alongside intricate floral patterns and divine faces. Each piece takes time to dry, layer, and polish. These are not mass-produced, so the weight and the way the light hits the gold foil are distinctly different from machine-made alternatives. Whether you are looking for festive accessories for a wedding or want to add a touch of heritage to your workwear, these pieces bridge the gap between antique temple art and modern utility.
Greengold
I am the artist behind these pieces, and I have always been drawn to the warmth of traditional Indian art. When I started translating Tanjore paintings into jewellery, my goal was to keep that regal, antique look while making it durable enough for you to wear, not just display.
