Fun & Foundational Squash Coaching for Kids
Squash for our youngest players is all about coordination, balance, and finding joy on the court before moving to serious match play.
Fun is a key ingredient in our junior program. Here, young players are learning court awareness and movement by playing games with balloons, which helps develop their reaction time in an exciting way.
More fun with balloons. This drill encourages kids to look up and move dynamically, all while practicing their swing motion and getting comfortable on the court.
A simple but effective drill for teaching young players about balance and racket control. Students learn to keep their racket face flat, a crucial skill for executing clean shots later on.
Young players at our ATS Green Village program participate in a fun cone-based agility game. These activities are designed to improve their coordination and speed while keeping them engaged.
A portrait of one of our bright young stars. We are committed to nurturing talent from the very beginning and making every child feel like a champion.
About this collection
We start with something simple: balloons. It might look like just a game, but for a 7-year-old, keeping a balloon in the air with a racquet is the fastest way to build hand-eye coordination without the frustration of missing a real squash ball.
Squash is a technical game, but at the U-9 level, intensity is often the enemy of progress. Our junior program in Delhi-NCR schools like Ahlcon International, DPS GBN, and Gyanshree is built on a 'movement first' philosophy. We use cones to teach court coverage and agility, ensuring kids learn to move their feet properly before they worry about swing mechanics.
As I tell my students, 'Pehle pair sahi rakho, swing apne aap aa jayega' (Get your feet right, the swing will come). This foundational phase is about building motor skills, discipline, and a genuine love for the sport. By the time they transition to our intermediate groups, they already have the balance and racket control that usually takes much longer to develop. We focus on low student-to-coach ratios during these formative sessions to ensure that every child gets the attention they need to progress safely and effectively.
