Collaborative Kathak Productions: Duets and Group Ensembles
Kathak is an intimate art, but when shared with others, the energy multiplies. Here, I showcase duet and group productions that weave synchronization with the timeless grace of the Lucknow Gharana.
This poster is for 'Sangam', a duet Kathak production I performed with Ishwari Kulkarnii. Our performance was a celebration of the union of rhythm and grace, weaving together both pure dance and storytelling.
A glimpse from a group performance at the Tagore Theatre for Kala Sameeksha, an event by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. Dancing in sync with my fellow artists is a wonderful experience of unity.
This 'Paran' was taught to us by Mamta Maharaj didi and performed as part of Vasantotsava. Group choreography requires perfect timing and a deep connection between the dancers.
A moment from Vasantotsava '23, a dream lived on stage. The energy of a group performance is electrifying, with each dancer contributing to a larger, beautiful picture.
This is a 'Paran' in Taal Ashtamangal, taught to us by our guru Saswati didi. We presented this piece during a Guru Purnima pooja, a beautiful offering of our collective devotion.
With the blessings of Maharaj ji, I had the good fortune to offer a dance tribute at the feet of Sai Baba in Shirdi. Performing as part of the Kalashram group is always a humbling experience.
Another moment from our group performance in Shirdi. The photo shows our collective prayer through dance, a powerful expression of our shared devotion and training under our guru.
About Collaborative Productions: Duets & Group Choreography
A successful group performance relies on more than just the steps. When you book a duet or ensemble, the coordination of costumes, stage spacing, and musical transitions happens in the backend. I ensure the stage management is handled professionally so that the only thing you and your audience experience is the fluid, rhythmic beauty of the dance.
Group performances transform the stage. While solo work allows for a dialogue with the self, group choreography is a geometric dialogue. We focus on 'Samuhik Nritya' (group dance), where the precision of our 'Toda' and 'Paran' must align perfectly to create visual harmony. Whether it is a duet like 'Sangam' or a larger ensemble of five or more dancers, the goal is to share the grace of the Lucknow Gharana with collective intensity.
For these productions, logistics are just as important as the art. A troupe needs enough space—ideally a minimum of 20ft x 15ft—to execute those intricate patterns and fast-paced chakkars (spins) safely. We manage the transitions, music cues, and costume changes behind the scenes, ensuring your event flow remains seamless from the first Mangalacharan to the final finale.
From thematic pieces like Krishna Leela to the high-energy Taranas that close a show, I tailor the repertoire to fit the vibe of your gathering. My team and I approach every group project with the same dedication to our tradition that I bring to my solo recitals, ensuring that every movement carries the blessings of the lineage I represent.

I believe that when we dance together, the rhythm echoes stronger. My group productions are deeply influenced by my training at Kalashram, where I learned that the beauty of a performance lies in the unity of the artists on stage. I would be honoured to bring this shared grace to your event.
