About Functional Art: Clocks, Lamps & More
When you commission a clock or lamp, it is not just about a resin pour. The clock mechanism itself, including the hands and the sweep, is fixed by an expert mechanic to ensure it keeps accurate time, not just looks pretty. I focus on this balance so your keepsake remains a useful, daily part of your home.
I believe that art should live in your daily routine. That is why I started making these functional pieces. Whether it is a clock marking the hour on your desk or a warm lamp glowing with your wedding petals, these items are designed to be used.
Why Functional Art
Most people keep their wedding keepsakes inside a cupboard. By turning them into clocks, lamps, or key holders, I bring those memories out. You see your preserved flowers, wedding photos, and special dates every single time you check the time or walk into your room.
The Process
For the clocks, I use a mix of real teakwood and resin. The teak provides a natural, sturdy frame that complements the organic nature of the dried flowers. Because these are functional, I do not just rely on standard kits. I work with expert clock mechanics to ensure the movement is silent and accurate. For the lamps, I use solid resin blocks that are polished to a glass-like finish, housing LED strips that turn the piece into a glowing memory at night.
