I didn't start as a pro. My journey from a 20-year-old beginner to a competitive athlete wasn't a straight line—it was a decade of real, sustainable progress.

Everyone's reminding me that I'm turning 30, so I thought I'd remind myself that I was once 20 and just starting my fitness journey. This decade of transformation shows that consistency is the most powerful tool for change.

A throwback to where my fitness journey with my husband started. We've changed so much, not just physically, but in our mindset. Fitness has been our anti-aging tool, giving us more energy and confidence, and we did it together.

A 10 kg weight gain transformation, comparing my physique last year to this year. This back pose clearly shows the added muscle mass and width I've built during my improvement phase.

A front-on comparison of my 10 kg weight gain. While it's challenging to embrace the extremes of gaining and cutting, this is what natural bodybuilding is about. You have to build the muscle before you can reveal it.

Another front pose comparison showing the difference a year of dedicated muscle building makes. I may not have the abs I had last year, but I have a stronger foundation for my next competition.

This side-by-side in the same dress shows the reality of a gaining phase. It's not always comfortable, but I know this phase is crucial for long-term progress.

The food that fuels the gains. During a muscle-building phase, my plates are full of wholesome, protein-rich meals like chicken, eggs, and dal. This is what it takes to build a better physique.

2023 vs 2024. Same place, two very different phases of my physique. On the left, I was in a leaner, fat-loss phase. On the right, I'm in a muscle-gain phase. I love and embrace both, as each is a necessary part of the athletic journey.

A back-shot comparison from my Thailand trips in 2018 and 2024. You can see the significant muscle development in my back and shoulders over six years of consistent weight training.

Front view from my Thailand trips, 2018 vs 2024. I was 10 kg lighter in the first picture after a crash diet. Today, I am heavier but have better body composition and more confidence. I no longer stress about shredding for a vacation.

About My Journey & Transformations

You will see 10kg weight gains and lean phases in these photos, but do not get distracted by the scale. Real progress is not about being shredded 365 days a year—it is about understanding that maintenance is a phase, gaining is a phase, and fat loss is a phase. I share this because you need to know that your fitness journey will ebb and flow, and that is exactly how it is supposed to look.
