About Beyond the Bar: Lotions, Butters & More
Most lotions are 80% water, which is why we skip the water entirely in our solid lotion bars. Because you are getting pure cocoa and shea butter in a concentrated disc, a little goes a long way. When you use one, you will notice it melts on contact with your skin, leaving deep moisture without the greasy film of standard bottled lotions.
Why We Make It Solid
We believe skincare should be straightforward. By moving away from liquid formulas, we eliminate the need for plastic bottles and harsh preservatives that keep water-based products shelf-stable. Our approach is about simplicity and potency.
The Range
- Solid Lotion Bars: Formulated with concentrated cocoa and shea butter. These are travel-friendly, water-free, and come in a reusable aluminum tin. Perfect for those stubborn dry spots on elbows, knees, and hands.
- Natural Lip Butters: We use a base of plant-based nut butters and Vitamin E. We pack these in paper push-up tubes, not plastic, because your daily lip care shouldn't contribute to landfill waste.
- Active Face Bars: These aren't standard soaps. We use specific actives like Kojic Acid for brightening or Colloidal Oatmeal for soothing. These bars are milled for a finer lather to gently polish facial skin without stripping natural oils.
Our Process
Everything is made in our Mumbai studio in small, intentional batches. We handle the process from the raw butter melt to the final hand-cut. Because we use real botanicals and pure essential oils, you might notice slight variations in texture or scent between batches. That is the nature of working with pure plant ingredients. We do not hide behind synthetic fragrances or preservatives, so what you see is exactly what you get.
