Working with my dog Ice is always a pleasure because our communication is clear. We are always on the same page, whether we are in a field or at home. This is the kind of partnership I help my clients build.

People often ask if protection dogs can truly be calm family members. Look at Ice playing in the fields or Dre curled up with my son. That balance isn't luck. It's the result of building a relationship based on respect and clear leadership. If you want that kind of stability, where your dog is both a gentle companion and a reliable protector, you have to be the leader they can respect.
Why Your Dog Needs A Leader, Not An Owner
Most behavior issues—whether it’s aggression, reactivity, or a lack of focus—don't start with the animal. They start because we treat dogs like humans. A dog is an apex predator. They don’t need you to baby them; they need you to guide them.
My own dogs, Ice and Dre, are the standard I hold for every animal I train. My German Shepherd, Ice, handles protection work in the field and settles down immediately at home. Dre, my Cane Corso, was raised with the same focus on genetics and drive. Neither of them are "perfect" by nature. They are balanced because I never let them guess what is expected of them.
The Training Foundation
My process focuses on two things: drive and obedience.
- Drive Activation: We use flirt poles and rag work to wake up their natural instincts. It’s not about making them mean; it’s about giving that energy a productive outlet.
- Structure: We work on engagement, impulse control, and the "off switch." If your dog can’t listen while their prey drive is active, they aren't trained—they're just dangerous.
