About Create Your Own Earthen Sculptures
You will be working with real red soil and hay, mixing it with your feet to get the right texture before sculpting. Wear comfortable clothes, as this is a hands-on, barefoot process. Do not worry about the mess, I provide the aprons and a washing station, so just bring your curiosity and get ready to create.
My workshops are about more than just making a statue. We start with Mitti Meditation to ground our energy before diving into the work. You will learn the entire process, starting from understanding the soil composition and mixing ratios of red earth, water, and straw.
We focus on the traditional 'Foot Stomping' technique, which is both functional for mixing the cob and deeply therapeutic. Once the material is ready, I guide you through the hand-modeling of your own pieces, whether it is a bust, a diya, or a unique mask.
I keep batches small, with a maximum of 10 people, so you get individual attention and have the space to actually talk and connect with others. We usually wrap up with a simple vegetarian lunch, giving us time to discuss the work and share our stories. You will take home the piece you created, which will dry into a solid, earthy artifact you can keep for years. If you are looking to get away from screens and find a bit of balance in your weekend, this is where you start.
