Our Guiding Philosophy: Sustainable Architecture & Natural Living
I believe design is about solving problems, not just aesthetics. At Mitti Matters, I work to bridge the gap between our modern urban lives and nature through sustainable building techniques.
I created this video to explain the "Why, What, and How" behind Mitti Matters. It’s my personal invitation for you to take a break from city life and reconnect with nature.
A short introduction to what you can expect from our Cob Art workshop, where we use an ancient, eco-friendly construction material to create modern art.
I offer different levels of workshops, from introductory cob art sessions to more intensive hands-on mud wall building. Here I explain how you can progress on your natural building journey.
A personal tour of our beautiful outdoor workshop location in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. It's a green oasis in the city where we host our DIY mud wall construction sessions.
This is me, standing proudly in front of a perfectly plastered cob wall. It’s breathable, non-toxic, and stone-strong, representing the sustainable, healthy lifestyle I advocate for.
We are stepping into a new era of construction by modernizing indigenous techniques. This is about building homes and lifestyles that are in harmony with nature.
My passion for sustainable architecture goes everywhere with me, even to a Coldplay concert. I believe it's the paradise of the future, and I'm here to bring these values to our city.
This is my world. Walking through a space built with natural materials, I feel a sense of belonging and purpose in building this new earth vision.
About Our Guiding Philosophy
My philosophy centers on one truth: mitti se sabka connection hai (we all have a connection to the soil). In my workshops, we go beyond theory to practice sustainable construction. Whether we are mixing red soil, hay, and water for cob walls or learning lashing techniques for bamboo structures, the goal is to make eco-friendly living a tangible, everyday reality for anyone in the city.
Building a home or a space should be an act of harmony, not extraction. When I talk about 'Sustainable Luxury,' I am not referring to expensive finishes or imported tiles. True luxury is living in a home that breathes, manages thermal comfort naturally, and uses non-toxic materials.
My approach relies on indigenous wisdom modernized for today's context. We prioritize:
- Thermal Regulation: Natural materials like cob (a mixture of subsoil, water, and fibrous organic material) have high thermal mass, keeping interiors naturally cool in Mumbai's humid climate.
- Breathability: Unlike concrete, mud and bamboo allow moisture to pass through walls, preventing mold and maintaining healthy indoor air quality.
- Community Connection: Through workshops, I teach how to work with hacksaws, sickles, and manual tools. You learn the anatomy of bamboo and the correct ratios for soil-straw mixtures.
I host these sessions in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, to show that you don't need to move to the countryside to live sustainably. We use practical, hands-on methods—like foot-stomping our cob mix—because the physical act of building is the best way to understand the material's integrity. My studio, Elite Design Architects, applies these same principles to full-scale residential and commercial projects. If you are ready to build a space that lasts for generations and respects the earth, let's connect and discuss your vision.
