Process & Technique
- Composition: Instruction on mixing Red Soil (Mitti), fibrous binders like hay or straw, and water ratios.
- Application: Practical session on 'Foot Stomping' to prepare the cob mix on ground tarps.
- Sculpting: Guidance on hand-modeling small earthen artifacts like busts or diyas using the prepared mix.
- Output: Participants take home their raw self-created cob sculpture (requires air-drying).
Logistics & Amenities
- Duration: Approximately 3 to 4 hours.
- Gear: Aprons provided for clothing protection.
- Hygiene: Basic washing station provided for cleaning mud off hands and feet.
- Food: Includes a simple Vegetarian Box Meal or Thali plus tea/coffee.

- Wall Systems: Introduction to the Wattle and Daub technique combining bamboo lattice with mud plaster.
- Joinery: Instruction on lashing techniques using ropes or binding wire to create structural frames.

- Tool Usage: Hands-on use of hacksaws, sickles, and measuring tapes.
- Handling: Practice in slitting bamboo vertically and cross-cutting full-length poles.

Why I Do This
I’m Manvi, and honestly, mitti se mera rishta toh bachpan se hi hai (my connection with soil has been there since childhood). These workshops are all about helping you feel that mitti (soil) magic again, especially if city life’s got you feeling disconnected.
What’s the Vibe?
Forget stiff lectures. We start with Mitti Meditation©️ - standing barefoot, breathing in the earth, tuning in. You’ll laugh, get messy, and maybe rediscover your lahanpan (inner child). Mixing cob with your feet is both a construction technique and a joy - somehow, stomping mud feels like therapy.
Small groups mean you actually get to know people: art lovers, sustainability folks, anyone curious. The energy is chill but focused. You share, learn, and create together.
What You’ll Do
- Mud & Cob Workshops: Learn cob construction experience, from mixing soil and hay to shaping walls or unique DIY earthen sculpture class pieces. You’ll understand why natural building hands-on workshop methods just feel right.
- Bamboo Basics: Get practical with bamboo - cut, slit, and build. Sustainable architecture with bamboo is less intimidating when you use your hands.
Who Joins?
If you’re into art, eco-friendly living, or just want a break from routine, you’ll fit right in. Ages 12+, but younger kids can join with an adult.
The Details
Sessions happen outdoors in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. It’s hands-on, messy and fun. Small batches (10 max), 2-4 hours, usually Saturdays. Sometimes, we share a simple lunch - mitti pehn ke, pet bhi bharta hai (after working with soil, we also fill our stomachs).

I just finished a course in natural building, and trust me, luxury and earth-friendliness can go hand-in-hand. Gudi Padwa in my new office was a proud moment.
