Why Bamboo?

Bamboo is an incredible resource—it’s fast-growing, strong, and deeply traditional to Indian architecture. In my workshops, I want to demystify it for you. It shouldn't feel like a complex engineering task; it should feel like a craft you can master.

What to expect in the session:

• The Basics: We start with understanding the bamboo stalk itself—its anatomy, how we cure it, and why selecting the right piece matters for your project.
• Tool Handling: You’ll get hands-on experience using traditional and modern tools, including hacksaws and sickles, to cut and slit poles safely.
• Joinery & Structure: I’ll walk you through lashing techniques using ropes or wire, which are essential for building simple, sturdy structures. We also touch upon the 'wattle and daub' method—combining bamboo lattices with mud plaster.
