Core Strength, Balance & Flexibility Training for Kids
Building a gymnast starts here. We focus on the essential drills—from bridges to handstands—that develop the core strength and stability every young athlete needs to grow confidently.
Our coaches provide personalized assistance to help students achieve greater flexibility safely. Here, an instructor helps a young gymnast with a standing split against a padded wall, ensuring proper form and preventing injury.
From a tripod base to a full headstand, this video shows the progression of learning to balance upside down. Mastering the headstand builds incredible core and upper body strength, as well as focus.
The bridge, or back arch, is a fundamental exercise for improving spinal flexibility and shoulder strength. Here, a group of students practices their bridges in unison on soft mats.
The handstand walk is an advanced skill that requires immense upper body strength and balance. This student practices walking on his hands across the mat, showing incredible control and coordination.
This video shows students practicing their bridge walk, a dynamic flexibility exercise. This move not only improves back and shoulder mobility but also enhances coordination and strength.
A typical training session includes a mix of activities. Here, students are seen applying chalk for better grip, practicing group bridges for flexibility, and using the gymnastic rings to build upper body strength.
We use various drills to build the strength needed for a solid handstand. This includes using sliders for pike push-ups and practicing holds on the monkey bars to develop shoulder and arm strength.
About this collection
You might see us focused on holding a handstand or perfecting a bridge, but it is really about control. We use specific drills—like pike push-ups and partner-assisted wall splits—to help kids develop the stability and range of motion they need to move safely. It is not just about the skill; it is about building the body awareness to land softly and move confidently every time.
Building Foundation Through Play
At Elite Squad, we treat gymnastics as a path to total body awareness. Our core skills program in Banashankari is designed to move beyond simple exercise by teaching children how to manage their body weight, balance on varied surfaces, and build functional flexibility.
Why These Skills Matter
- Strength: We move past basic push-ups. Students work on custom monkey bars, rope climbing, and wall-assisted handstands to build functional upper-body and core strength.
- Balance: Through coordination drills on balance pods and mini-trampolines, kids learn to control their centre of gravity.
- Flexibility: We incorporate partner stretching and wall-based splits to help kids increase their range of motion safely. This is where we emphasize 'Soft aagi land aagbeku' (land softly)—teaching kids that control is the key to safety.
Safety & Training Methodology
We train in a fully padded facility at Infinity Fitness Studio, featuring 25mm thick EVA puzzle mats. This allows us to push boundaries—trying that extra stretch or perfecting a pike—without the fear of hard impacts. Our small group batches, limited to 8-10 students per coach, ensure that every child gets the manual spotting they need to learn new positions correctly. We end every session with a 5-minute meditation to help kids connect their mental focus with their physical progress, ensuring they leave the mat feeling both strong and calm.
Elite Squad Gymnastics Academy
We are a team of coaches who treat this gym like a hangout spot for our big, noisy, active family. We love when our students nail a new move, and we are right there with them—cheering, spotting, and sometimes goofing around to make the hard work feel like play.
