About Fundamental Skills: Footwork & Blade Work
Fencing is less about how hard you swing and more about your footwork. When you join our sessions at Abhinav Global School, we start with the En Garde stance, ensuring your balance is perfect before you pick up a blade. You will often hear us yelling 'Fast fast!' because it is how we drill precision into your muscle memory until moving like a fencer feels natural.
It takes grit to master the basics. Our 15-day foundation camp is not about standing around. We dedicate 37.5 hours to the core pillars of the sport: stance, movement, and distance.
We train on rubber roll-out pistes. It is not an AC facility, so you will sweat, but that is part of the process. We break down the lunge, the advance, and the retreat until they are instinctual. For blade work, you start with non-electric weapons to master your aim and control. Once you have the rhythm, we introduce the electric scoring gear.
We see many beginners come in shy, but after a few days of footwork drills and target practice, they start showing that competitive fire. If you are ready to put in the work, you will walk away with a solid foundation and the discipline of a competitor.
What you get:
- 37.5 hours of coached training over 15 days
- Use of club-provided safety masks and non-electric weapons
- 2 Dynamo branded Dry-fit T-shirts
- Daily light refreshments to keep your energy up
